I seemed to enjoy this judging by my watching history. but why can't I recall any single memory of this movie π I don't even know that I've watched this.
actually a drama like this is a certified HEA. you can sue the screenwriter if it turns out to be otherwise. the ups and downs are normal. they have to add something to fill the 32 episodes. and tbh it actually isn't bad/sad like what people talked about before. when I checked the comment section earlier they made it seem like the world was about to end or something.
I'm curious, I'm not sure about the setting time of their school days and the present timeline.
I heard somewhere that "you can tell from what generation people are coming from when they talked about zodiac/blood type instead of mbti."
I don't know wether mbti also becomes a thing in china, the point I'm trying to emphasize is on the zodiac. when sang yan told her his birth date and mentioned his zodiac too, it wasn't random.
I remember when I was in middle school we introduced ourselves like that too ππ even on the school text books, in the dialogue the characters often introduced themselves with their zodiac. everything was about zodiac.
it was really really a big thing and a trend of that era. people used to put their zodiac on their facebook bio. some of them even used it as their username. I used to roam around the library every week with my friend. the excuse was to read a book, but our main course was the weekly magazine. they had a zodiac section predicted about your fate, finance, relationship, and other craps π.
I don't know zodiac is still a thing. but back then it was crazy. it's like how koreans are currently obsessed with mbti.
sang yan, and some other characters mentioned about zodiac here really tells a lot about them. the writer did a really good research about it, to present the culture from that moment.
I'm not sure but most likely their school days happened in the 2010s. I think their age in the drama is around bai jingting's real age. I'm sure they're from millennial generation π
and I don't remember when they met again but the current timeline is about 3000-something days later. let's make a rough count that the current timeline in the drama was 8-10 later. and if my prediction is right, on one the next episodes they'll fast forward x years later to the year 2024/2025 or probably the year the drama was filmed.
if anyone has idea about the time frame, please let me know.
This might sound ridiculous or maybe I'm just being stupid.. am just curious so sue me! How come Bai Jing Ting's…
he looked the same to me like when I first saw him in "yesterday once more" (2016) movie. he played a high school student too here.
Idk which drama you're exactly referring to but looking from his posture in tff he's definitely working out. and before filming tff, I think he purposely lost some weight to look like a highschooler. he already looks younger than his age, but for tff he definitely made some effort in the gym.
Even a step daughter deserves a better mother. I want her husband to divorce her, really...She was trying to save…
ikr, that annoying step daughter deserves a safe home. the mother took yifan's existence for granted but when it came to other people she called family, she had no backbone.
seriously my blood boils whenever I remember that scene when the mother told her step daughter to "dress properly." I don't like them both but the mother was just crossing the line.
instead of telling the problematic man to behave, she targeted her daughter who already wore a sweatshirt.
if I were her daughter, I'd riot. like who brought strays from the street and told the owner of the house to dress properly instead?
Also there are some cramps where the FL has proposed ( or maybe it's a kdrama)
I thought what you were trying to emphasize was a mutual effort to build the relationship. these characters here and in tbt (you can also add in the white olive tree and hidden love) are all have that. we can't expect a proposal when we're watching an early stage of a relationship. that's not necessary yet.
Also there are some cramps where the FL has proposed ( or maybe it's a kdrama)
in the best thing the fl gave him rings (yes twice). it wasn't an official proposal tho. and she basically gave him flower when she was in the mood.
here yifan also tried to woo him. that's why the original chinese title translated as hard to coax. and sang yan made it clear that if yifan didn't say anything clear he wouldn't dare to make a bold move. in beiyu, yifan called him and said it first. I think this drama already portray mutual efforts enough.
something I noticed about ep 25, that mie sedaap's story telling is a thousand times better than kopiko's. π€£ they managed to make it as a part of the plot smoothly. and there was no repetitive line like "aaah it's so fresh. it makes me stay awake." it was silent and there was no dialogue but somehow it spoke louder to me.
it was just funny to see sang yan carrying a pack of noodle everywhere. he looked like a lost boy getting locked out by his mom and starved in the middle of the night. π€£
if people cant even understand a character that is a victim of s@ in a show that we got to see all her pain being…
the comment section is actually the perfect example of what happens irl.
they're either not believe it, not take it seriously, blame the victim for being a victim and also for addressing the issue. the world tolerates the assaulter more, because it was supposed to be a "mistake" or a misunderstanding.
and the victim is being treated worse than the perpetrator.
and if the victim has a courage to speak up. they're basically done for. because the biggest joke is, when you expect the ones you thought as trusted adults to at least listen to you, they (or even the ones who are the same gender as you) could turn their back against you instead. because you're ruining the reputation. because it's such a hassle to deal with.
and even if some of them also the victims, they prefer to avoid that sort of topic.
but avoiding it means to normalize the silencing of such topic.
I don't want to invalidate those who feel traumatized because I admit upon since watching this I already had 2 nightmares. and I don't recommend this to people who are not comfortable with it. please be wise and know your limit. it can be really triggering although that's not the main plot here.
however to those people I want to say, let's normalise to have the topic being brought on the media. people who are not comfortable can avoid this. but please don't try to silent our media. some of us are more than willing to have this discussed on a big platform.
yifan's behaviour is concerning. it's someone who's psychologically unhealthy. and I understand why she did what she did. the frustration that makes you escape to somewhere where 'I know no one and nobody knows me'. it's a toxic trait but it's her defensive mechanism.
but it something that hits me just now that sometimes some people gone not because they wanted to disappear but because they wanted to reinvent themselves.
and it's not as easy as being open and to communicate it with someone she's in a relationship with. because being open about her trauma can rip her into pieces all over again.
and it's difficult to open up when the situation keeps pushing her to the limit.
I think the writer intended to introduce to sang yan about what happened to her. and since from the building of her character there wasn't any progress to address that matter herself, the writer used a trigger to make sang yang questioned about it himself. it's slowly getting there. although taking a different route, it will eventually unfold.
I understand if somebody doesn't understand her. the situation is indeed frustrating. but I believe yifan hated to do that too, more than anyone else.
