Thanks. It helps a lot to view it as alternate universe where such fake gene exists. I will be less frustrated from such pointview. If writers depicts sci-fi world with very different features from real world, it should highlight it from get go. F.e. give it distinctive name like Mutant X gene. Every viewer would understood from that very second that this is sci-fi.

Now I saw dumb arguments (how wars happen), dumb remarks (Nobel), misinterpretation of human genome. What other conclusion I could reach than that writer did not do their homework, are lazy and sloppy, and probably hate science.

I do not see anything complicated. Just that writer is wishy washy with zero consistency, because his universe description jumps from scene to scene and differs each time.

There is reason why writers in sci-fi novels create fake names like Gotham city, because it leads viewer that it might have different government type than real world. It is writers task to lead viewer not just cheaply deliberately create confusion. I should be led that this is sci-fi world, not read in mydramalist before watching it.

Every drama not just sci-fi introduces unique world with its own rules and viewer quickly gets them. Here writer contradicts himself in very first episode f.e. we see closed voting which suggest corrupt authoritative regime but in police station we see that law rules and everyone rights are highly respected as it would suggest free liberal society. It seems writer choses unique worldview scene from scene in a way that it should create more drama.

I like atmosphere of drama very much. Nostalgic, old footage, rain, mystery, batman/anime-like music. But writing, especially dialogues are so poorly written what it frustrates me. My expectations dropped to very low, especially after reading some comments that every character except few will do dumb choices. After wathcing first episode seems poor writing will continue. So maybe I will try to watch this later, just with very low expectations.

- Drama begins with utter confusion. On one scene is written "5 years later". Very next scene is "10 years ago". Should I watch this drama with calculator? Does it mean +5-10=-5 actually five years ago from present past time?
- Nature vs. nurture is so outdated topic today. Serious it's discusion probably would bring same results as debating flat earther. Though it was still relevant in 1990s. So this topic is drama theme or it just accurately depicts that time? I'm confused.
- Whole nation law is decided upon voting by just 13 people. Do producers could not hire more actors/statists or it depicts some fictional nation. Comically voting is decided by raising hands like in school and it dramatically ended by equal votes and drum drum tension rises and deciding vote is... scene is cut off. I could not stop laughing at such fake production. From comments saw such nonsensical cut offs are common in this drama.
- Nation leaders logical argument is "without psychopats there would be no wars or crimes". Seriously, does this drama is written by naïve teenager?
- Freshly baked scientist with closed circle of research is potential Nobel prize winner. Seems writer has zero idea what Nobel prize is and how it is nominated.
- Police releases potential serial murder even though they found decapitated heads in his outskirt house.
- After releasing potential serial murder journalists most important question is about police brutality. Again I am confused whether this drama depicts 1990s or 2020s. Seems it will be wishy washy and writer will chose whatever suits him.
- Death row inmate is prisoned with everyone.
- Death row inmate can send parcel with live rats in it. So nobody checks it in prison. Also delivery company is ok with it.

Encouraged by rave reviews I tried to start this drama. By 3rd try I barely finished first episode. It is cheap writing with overdramatised scenes and Batman music. Writing is not just antisience but lack any critical thinking which, in my opinion, should be basic component for any murder mystery drama.

I listed below all nonsense just from first episode. Should I continue to watch or writing remains on same level.

There is no way Han CEO would pay 5 millions dollars for a startup with a sketchy patent ownership as they worked on similar product in their previous job. On top of that they have second largest shareholder who is on the way to lose patent suits on its own. During shaleholders lawsuits this startup would definetely lose all their clients and would need to sell off for cents just to eat. This startup company has below zero value with Han Se Kwon as shareholder. Furthermore Han CEO has all cards to force Han Se Kwon to sell its shares. Why suddenly Han CEO changed behaviour and became unreasonable? Answer is that writers wanted HSK get free of consequences.

Writers made every situation realistic but stopped doing that after tried to paint HSK in positive light and left so many glaring plot holes. Such sleazy incompetent man managed to make profit in vietnam or whatever in few weeks after being fired/reassigned. For 12 episodes we see that our heroes does all work and he does not move little finger and suddenly off screen he is super competent. 2nd time he is super competent also happens off screen after he left company with least competent team members and still made product successful with ground start.

Did actor bribed writers?

Because I have no other explanation why writers for such realistic drama made such unrealistic arc for main antagonist and made him in the end be scot free for all his evil doings without realising his mistakes. I never saw such treatment for antagonist.

If not such abhorrent plot hole it would be one of my favourite dramas. Sigh.

Amazing drama, one of the best office oriented, if... not Han Se Kwon character. I do not understand why writers tried such lengths just to make character positive. They made drama so realistic, so detailed yet that characters resolution wiped everything away and made drama unrealistic.

It talks about lack of chemistry between leads, as quest role just for 2 episodes could easily win second lead syndrome.

First 12 episodes were hilarious, above my expectations, After that they started boiling some cliché nonsense. Comedy stopped and everything became overdramatised, leads became stupid.

Watching cdrama trend we are few years away from drama where somebody's pet run away and caused accident, or a child threw apple and killed future spouse's father, because to avoid apple father slipped and falled down, and by failing he grabbed tree branch, which under release springles back and makes natural Goldbergs machine and in the end of 100 steps the axe will fell down on father. Or just chinese writers will save effort and will copy script from the song "Dumb ways to die".

So here small lantern causes whole car combust. For real? I just cannot pass writers for displaying such stupidity. As these writers are incompetent I suspect later will be revealed, that sister will undergo psychotherapy healing and under hypnotic session will remember that she caused accident by distracting father.

If you could turn on logic a little bit the accident was caused by father's reckless driving or total incompetence being at the wheel.
If these flying burning objects can really cause deadly accidents it is government fault, especially if it is china, they can say what their citizens are allowed to do or not. Furthermore it is manufacturer's fault for making unsafe product.

LOLOL I'm only one who is laughing at reasoning in episode 32. I found very funny thinking how actors try with their straight faces to act such absurd.

I thought this will be poor man's version of "Something like this". But it is just terrible. Story is flat, there is no secondary action. They totally failed to make it as slow burn drama. There is no way this drama should go beyond 24 episodes.

Concept is amazing, but why they chose three worlds with basically same story from romance perspective? 12 episode drama is very short but producers managed make it repetitive and boring. They invested so much into different type wardrobes, scene settings and bring along so terrible writing its stupid decision.

I recommend to drop this after first world because story fells flat. Still though concept is amazing and this drama is on must watch list.

Being butthurt from love is not solid reason even in dramaworld to discriminate against whole gender. It is rare to see ML with so disgusting mind. And FL nonchalantly accepts any abuse or rude behaviour towards her. Writer seems misogynistic.

I barely can finish first episode. Doublechecked drama is released in 2021 year. Is this for real?

According to hints on 2nd episode Pum is dead because doppelganger's current boyfriend did something to her. Because of guilt he dates person with same face.

Still everything is in the open - she could have amnesia or whatever surprise writers have.

I hope she is not dead (a.k.a .same person), because half of screentime there are flashbacks with real Pum. If she is dead then these flashbacks are so pointless...

Now actually I am confused. Dialogues from different scenes contradict themselves and bunch information is missing, especially numbers f.e. how many shares group had in subsidiaries.

As understand that group invests hugely in the merger (employee retraining, gives them southeast market etc) and becomes defacto owners of new company. The trick is they will not evaluate current situation, but past contributions to the group. This is the workaround that SX proposed how to include TK company (who is in the red) in merger and how to pay for CUI debts by still having good accounting books for future IPO. Furthermore it gives them free PR and brand building. It is quite genius idea given situation. SX travelled with president to the land and non-directly told to president that having ownership might change XM mind. In other words she revealed to President true nature of XM conflict without snitching his plans.

Now about land there is tricky. I think these retired builders building small buildings by XM command that later it would be easier change purpose of land into residential, as if it became residential natural. President threatened to XM plan of profit by evicting these retired builders and his reputation as his promises are not met. XM lost his dreams and business ideology as doing it for the people, not for political gain or power like these old heads. But from other angle at the same time XM lost his purpose for going independent. It is quite smart move from president.

Land remain property of new merged company, which will be defacto owned by group. So all profit will go to the group instead of XM directly. And it still will be managed by XM. So in conclusion XM lost their miniwar, but president met his needs by making him on the same level as Vice Presindent and total freedom to manage his company. Actually he made him a little bit above VP, because new company will get future strategic investments, probably Singapore money instead of going to EPC company. Therefore VP is butthurt and has last battle before graciously retiring.

On such level decisions how difficult tax will be is never concern. Well if you manage 20k people you do not care how difficult job is for some accountants. Furthermore maybe you misinterpret what word investor means. There are many types of investment - share dilution, loan agreements, rent of assets, future sale contracts etc. In short, as they formed group, there is not much group can sue TK for. Debt ratio is definitely nowhere in contract, because in series shown they do not have many professionals, just now SX who is a little bit educated is starting cleaning process.

XM did not cooked any accounting books. Everything on there is right information. There are no fake loans, fake employees, fake projects. There is zero claim that he mismanaged TK. Failure is =/= mismanagement. You use many legal terms and these terms do not have broad meanings that you can use anywhere. Group may be unhappy how XM managed but they can do nothing about it.

Nobody is buying TK because TK is mostly owned by uncle. XM did not undervalued company because evaluation did not even start. Audit =/= company valuation. Group cuts TK even before real merge process begins. Because other four companies would not agree to merge with company operating at a loss.

There is nothing unethical XM did.

I am no way offensive, just a little bit sad that many people do not see how smart, realistic and especially correct from business politics perspective this series is written. I would like to more people appreciate this drama. I would be happy if my comments would help to understand how smartly written this drama is. Because without understanding business side correctly it is impossible to understand XM character and judge him. Many things are not explained in this drama.

I do not know Chinese corporate model details, but in every modern government shareholders and decision makers are not the same. Shareholders has share of value if company is sold or something. In every country is different rules how board is formed, f.e. in many western countries even worker representatives must have one seat. But no matter what you can construct situation where investor owns let's say just 10% of company but has majority seats of the board. Usually this is how groups are formed - they share corporate strategy through decision making but business owners own their company. Groups gets all benefits but dissolves the risk. For company also they get bigger chunk of market at reduced risk. Just that puts group in position of bully, and not smart groups use that to their extent as is happening in this series.

XM's gamble is not the price of land. Because it is worthless in any case. Smart governments have few safety mechanisms from that, so they would never buy overpriced land. For example one mechanism is bidding. That puts XM in position to be decision maker of city expansion project. So that some huge company if want use their land in bidding they will need to give many projects to TK at good profit margin. Land does not change valuation of TK, just the door to the opportunities in future negotiations. It is huge opportunity that in right scenario TK can grow as big as whole group. Just it is tiny chance and nobody sees it in the books.

There are too many uncertainties and risks involved that to say land value is higher than in the books. It is just XM's big gamble and va bank move to go independent from group.

Therefore if TK is mismanaged and in debt, group has no obligation to cover their debts. Also group has no right to their assets, money etc. Therefore SX has to ask them to pay for audit voluntarily. Group can only disinvest and sue TK to bankruptcy, but as they want IPO they will want to separate in peace. But that means TK will become direct competitor of the group if TK manages to survive.

Whether SX snitches XM plans to president or not it could not change situation. XM put TK in position that group has no other option. If group would want that piece of land they would need to pay off Cui debts. It could cancel their plans to get investment from Singapore and eventual IPO. Furthermore nobody would want take this responsibility within group. Also if group would sue TK to bankruptcy it would only negatively effect group as possibility of others revolting.

Although it would definitely help for president to have this information earlier. In case negotiations with Singapore stalls he would have more options.

There is no right or wrong in this situation. Whatever SX decides she will have selfish motives. She has three options - tell president, resign, or be middleman and try solve conflict between president and XM. For third option she is not smart, experienced and resourceful enough to handle them both. So she is at the limit of her talent and for first time she will sacrifice something willingly. It will be interesting to see last three episodes.

Why reviews are so negative ? I've never watched previous versions before nor read the novel. After reading comments I turned on 2013 version to see what you are talking about. Contrary I found it so bad. I could not stop laughing at first scene with snowboard. All fighting scenes are out of context and forced, changing of landscapes are so illogical, dialogue lines are so dumb. So dumb that I could not believe that is based on same novel. I was especially disappointed that villain there was so one dimensional, not like here with complex personality.

2021 version is hundred times better than 2013. Especially I liked how they introduced characters, how it highlighted their key traits from very first moment, it made it easier to grip their essence and understand their future decisions later. To achieve that they break away from linear story telling, which was so boring in 2013.

Also I like slow-mo fighting better. It is easy to distinguish which moves are better, who is winning or losing the fight and track dynamics of fight, how it relates with main story. There (in 2013) were just chaos, bunch of moving hand and feet and especially weird camera angles.

2021 version landscapes are eye candy. I like settings colour scheme, how it is consistent through series. I find many positive things comparing with 2013 version. I will try to see older versions later, but hopes are not high after watching first episode of 2003 version.

Though looking without comparison this drama is far from perfect and I find many disturbing aspects, few times almost dropped. Just I disagree with these comparison reviews. Our brain tends to forget details and saves only positive emotions. If you saw adaption long time ago you see it with pink filter and probably you will never like another adaptation. But for people who never saw previous one this adaptation is hundred times better than 2013 version.
