A surprisingly fun 2 hours! It's bolstered by some creative uses of the format. From my understanding, this is…
That's interesting! I really really enjoyed the format and storytelling of this kind of mystery. Can you tell me where I can look up for more info about the Homebound Detectives Club you talked about?
The anime is one of my favorites, and this movie didn't disappoint. The cast did a great job. The replication of 60s Japan gives the whole movie a very sweet nostalgic ambience. I just thought that Kaoru really resembles a young Harry Potter :D, and the music was awesome. Overall, I didn't expect much, but was very pleasantly surprised with this live action!
Btw, can anyone recommend me more Jmovies set in this time period?
Ditto, the Classic, Il Mare were some of the first Korean movies that solidified my love for K-cinema back then. They are classics for a reason. I'm looking forward to this remake :).
What a fun first episode! I came into this blindly, not reading the synopsis or knowing what it's about, and was pleasantly surprised. But is it true that this only has 2 episodes??
ugh what is the reason jdramas need to look like that, it puts me off every time.
This is so true -_-; I took a break from watching Jdramas for 10 years, and now that I'm back, I still noticed the same sad, subdued, poor quality in colors and camera works. That quality works for indie slice-of-life dramas, but not all of them. Like you said, some of the best cinematography Jdramas are on Netflix. Love and Fortune is just GORGEOUS to look at (the content is questionable, but gosh, the camera work and color gradings are so lovely). Wish Japan would invest more in their TV productions.
What a pleasant surprise this drama is! I'm still watching it, but every episode surprised me. The storyline is more layered than I thought for a romcom, and the actings and chemistry between the two leads are amazing.
This drama is like a poem, restrained, understated, yet profound. It's a pause, a coma, a respite. I love it so so much more than I thought I would. Can we hope for season 2? I think there's more to Amayima's story. Btw, can someone please recommend me another jdrama with similar vibe to this, beside Midnight Diner?
What a charming actor! Expressive eyes, cute dimpled smile, killer kissing skills too. All he needs is one very good main role. One of his most recent romance drama roles was really bad. Hope he can land some good scripts.
It's a good story, but I was only able to watch episodes 1-4 and 13-16. It was just too slow and uneventful for…
Same here, I skipped from ep 5 all the way ep 10, then from ep 11 to ep 14, lol. This is a drama that can easily fit in around 10 eps or less, like how a typical Jdrama would be. Does any body know why this drama has 16 eps? It's almost unheard of in Jdrama land.
In my honest opinion, this show is such a bull shit. No offense to anyone saying this is the best show they have…
This one is a remake though, so technically it isn't authentically a Jdrama. Imo, Jdrama excels when it comes to human drama and creative plots. Though I do think until now that Jdrama is somewhat of an acquired taste, lol.
I know Haein likes mature, realistic scripts, but as I'm watching 25 21, I suddenly think he'd be awesome in a romance with some vibrant vibes (think Hometown cha cha cha, our beloved summer also). All of the shows he's been in as the main character are quite heavy. Call me shallow, but imagine how fun it'd be to see him as a silly CEO with some crazy antics, or some over the top character for once, lol. I hope he doesn't get typecast to just serious shows. Perhaps CONNECT will prove me wrong? Hoping it will have some comedy :D.
This one is so under the radar. It was announced in 2020, but nothing seems to surface when I search for its latest update. Hopefully we can get to see it soon! I miss seeing Hikari on the small screen.
I ended to watch 'Imawa no Kuni no Alice' yesterday and i really liked it!Usually japanese dramas give me totally…
I have only watched Alice in borderland on this list, and adore it. Japanese dramas are somewhat of an acquired taste, but I also find that generally, slice-of-life Jdramas have the best storytelling and realistic approach. Thanks for the recs, Life on Mars and Kairos sound right up my alley! Personally I love Stranger (Forest of Secrets), especially season 1 and would highly recommend it if you like thrillers.
I just finished the first episode, and it was so much fun and wholesome! Kim Taeri is one of my favorite actresses, and once again, she delivered. It's been a while that a first episode grabbed my whole attention and I was laughing out loud throughout almost the entire runtime. Ahhh, the wait time is gonna be hard, but it's all worth it :D.
The director Takashi Miike's directing style is, ngl, very distinctively weird and experimental as well :D. That's why I'm super excited for this drama. It's going to be interesting for sure. I'm glad JHI is challenging himself with new role.
