So... I've watched 14 episodes so far and I have to ask: why is the second male lead so popular in this show?…
I agree with you! I have NO IDEA what his appeal was. I read the recaps of this drama on Dramabeans when I watched it, and the commenters there just LOVED him.
Joo Sang Wook was adorkable in this! He really made this drama for me and shines as Cha Jung Woo. (Plastic Flower! LOL) Cute cute cute drama! Didn't care for the 2nd lead guy - I thought he was too girly looking, especially next to JSW.
Watched him first in Answer Me 1997. I didn't think I'd like him at first, but he grew on me very quickly! I've enjoyed him in Master's Sun, King of High School, and Rascal Sons since then. (Rascal Sons wasn't his finest acting, but it was still a good drama!) Can't wait to see more from him. :)
I first saw this actor in Delightful Girl Choon Hyang. I was so disappointed that he had to turn out to be not only a second lead, but a villainous one at that. I'd like to see more of him, but I've been reading that he never gets the girl in his roles. Give this man a leading role! :)
(And if you know of a drama where he gets the girl - let me know! LOL!)
I haven't seen these dramas, so can't comment on them, but normally I do not get SLS. The only actor to give me SLS was Choi Si Won in She Was Pretty. I was seriously bummed after I learned he was second lead.

L also played the young Joo Joong Won in Master's Sun. I do think he's adorable. I don't know much about K-pop, so I can only judge from their acting roles. I also liked Yoon Doo-Joon from Let's Eat and Splash Splash Love. I think he did a great job. And I was super surprised to recently learn that Seo In Guk was a kpop singer also. And I enjoy Jung Eun Ji and Lizzy (who sound alike and look somewhat similar to me). I'm glad that some of them have crossed over!
I've only been watching Kdrama for just over a year. I'm pretty addicted and have gotten my dh to watch several that he has really enjoyed. I got my oldest ds involved in one, but he's not ready to cross over yet. Finding someone to watch with IS hard! I'm from the US, but I find that I either get the weird looks or "what's wrong with American TV" or "I'm not into reading subtitles" replies. It'd be really nice if they opened their minds to other cultures. My dh and I used to enjoy Bollywood movies together before they started to become more Westernized and we slowly fell out of that. I'm thinking of venturing out into other Asian dramas when my Kdrama "to watch" list starts to become a little smaller! :) It's nice to find MDL and other people that get the addiction.
I totally agree that bringing in the person from Tae Gong Sil's past was not only unnecessary, but was probably the only real low point of the drama for me. I also loved the Touch Love song!
Your review of this drama embodies everything that I felt while watching this. I totally agree with everything you wrote, and you did a beautiful job on this review.
I enjoyed her so much in Rascal Sons. This is the first time I've seen her and she really reminds me of Jung Eun Ji. I don't know if it's because they have the same Busan accent, but they could seriously pass them as sisters in a drama! Would like to see more of her upcoming!
Pretty much my Korean crush. First watched him in Oh My Venus and now I need to see him in more romances like that and Master's Sun. (Keep that OMV hair though! LOL)
He made me a fan in Reply 1994 and he was pretty much the reason I watched You're the Best Lee Soon Shin (even though it was just a supporting role). I wish they'd release the Youths Over Flowers Iceland with Eng. subs for us to watch. He's such a cutie!
