finally finished and overall i felt pretty disappointed. as a big fan of lusi, i hoped this would be a cute easygoing historical fluff with a swoonworthy lead and adorable moments. however, the writing quickly dove into contrived nonsensical plots, some of the most infuriating characters, and a fml who cannot stop causing trouble to save her life. ML is great outside of THAT scene which almost ruined the character for me. the plot does little to further the isekai trope.
on a positive note, i think everyone did a fantastic job acting. lusi played her character extremely well and certainly made for many memorable moments. generally, i think the lead couple had good chemistry too. there were also many lovable side characters like the two servants that absolutely made the drama. i also think eps 20-24 really turned the drama around right when it needed to. while i wouldn't say it was enough to redeem the dumpster fire of eps 12-19, i did quite like the ending albeit a little rushed imo.
overall, i gave it a 5.5/10. maybe not my final rating, but that's how i'm feeling right after. the writing, tropes, misunderstandings, miscommunication all felt juvenile to me. if i summed it up, i'd say i felt more frustrated than fluff.
i'm not here to talk about the case at all. i'm here to say that hi! school love on was one of my first dramas. even though the drama wasn't great, i always thought she was such a wonderful actress with the most adorable personality. i was SO excited to watch her grow up into more mature roles and eventually become a household name. it was heartbreaking to never see her gain the traction in her later roles and then of course everything that happened in her personal life. it's truly tragic to see where the circumstances went from one of my first dramas to now. my heart goes out to her loved ones (for those that ACTUALLY care about her, who even knows atp?). i hope she rests in peace now and that she gets any justice she deserves. hi! school love on will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I think MDL should implement a policy that NO news articles related to the DEATH of an actor/actress are listed…
unfortunately i don't think that's possible though. it's more of a tag system than direct linking. since they refer to her name in the articles, they have to link to her profile, hence the direct connection to it. i understand the sentiment though.
does this have as much violence as weak hero did? i kind of got taken out of weak hero cuz of the amount of fighting to the point where it felt TOO unrealistic. is this one any better?
only on ep 16 so my opinion may change later, but i don't really like many of the characters. ML is great ofc,…
okay on ep 21 now and the writing is lowk insufferable. i'm still holding onto hope for the last few eps, but not much. i'll leave my thoughts once i finish, but wow. i really thought i'd love this drama.
does it get better after second episode? I had to interrupt half way episode 2.
i thought it was pretty addicting but idk about "good." the plot is okay, it's a bit cringe, i don't really care for the ml, and the fml isn't great either. but something about it was pretty addicting for me. i'd say give it 3 eps and see how you like it by then.
only on ep 16 so my opinion may change later, but i don't really like many of the characters. ML is great ofc, but both second leads and even sometimes the FML is quite frustrating to watch. i love lusi but her character is so fickle and confusing sometimes, and i usually love FMLs. it just feels like unnecessary drama for no reason.
It's not about which is better. And about the value of the work for the genre. The squid game doesn't bring anything…
yes i read that people often ridicule other battle royale-type of stories and claim they are copying squid game. and i see that you believe it is frankensteining/copying previous works. but my question was how and why do you believe squid game has not brought anything new to the genre?
this was such a good show. it's incredibly intense, but never boring. i do have a few qualms with futuba as a character lol. though, i'll refrain at least until part 2 comes out so we can see how she evolves (if she does). the cast is perfect and i especially loved sometani shota's character. all in all, such a wonderfully produced drama. i cannot wait for part 2
