I checked chinese forums and it seems like most people aren't that concerned with the plagiarism in this drama, since these were popular (and probably overused) tropes from the decade when the original novel was written. They're way more bothered by the plotholes and misogyny.

Finally finished this and I'm shocked by the high ratings.

This screenwriter is really REALLY misogynistic. The story basically dumps all the fault to women and never punishes the men. Every single female character related to the revenge, whether good or evil, faces extreme violence (trigger warning).

I haven't watched any of the dramas you mentioned, but I did feel it coming since the producer is Yu Zheng. He is notorious for plagiarizing popular dramas.
