I love love love these small things that the viewer needs to pay attention to and put back together in their heads ..
Believe it or not .. lack of more eps I have already started rewatching to catch all that I missed .. All those lovely delicious bits of 'meat' ;-p
I loved the how the Drama MY began .. was hooked and excited for a few early eps .. but fell flat for me soon.
Became a Yunnan Travel commercial / documentary where the main characters were just pegs to jump off of .. lost the plot and I lost interest in them.
The execution of MY was FLAT while WLIS is vivid .. pumping blood, alive .. it's keeping me breathlessly following each character and their emotions and actions.
BOTTOM LINE : I 100 % agree with you .. that for a wee bit I got the MY vibes from WLIS .. and was dreading SO MUCH that it would GO THAT WAY and end up being another small town "commercial" .. Ensconced 10 eps down I can sigh in relief .. that it's NOT ANYTHING like MY ..
Of course that's just the way it looks from my perspective :-D
Ufff .. so tired of shows where 'virginity' is extolled .. and ADULTS in serious committed relationships behave skittish about physical attraction.
No one is asking Drama to become soul-less, jump and hump shows (gratuitous near porn-like physical) like in Western serials and films .. Neither does it have to be 'monastic' and blushing virginal.
I WAS SO SO SO HAPPY with the EPIC KISS scene that ends Ep 5 and begins Ep 6.

AND I love how DEATH is explored and naturalised with FULL empathy and dignity and the bereavement it entails.
It's NOT easy to show this nuanced response to a plot that you know WILL deal with a lot of death .. BUT it doesn't weight it down or drag it into 'cringe' / 'makjang' territory but makes it soar free ..
