I loved Ever Night. I loved Chen Fei Yu.
And the FL Sang Sang. She was epic!!!! One of the BEST actresses out there. How to to do adorable - lovable - strong - loyal without ONCE being cringey or cheesy. Such a TOUGH TOUGH role to play without falling into the "infantile act" many take as the easy path to "looking cute".
The sparky - witty dialogue.. Complex story and expert direction made me binge Ever Night.
But was left betrayed when I realized Season 2 had lost more than half the cast and Ning Que and CFY are molded together.. How can poor Dylan Wang replace that powerful stamp... Dylan Wang is a GREAT actor too.. But Unfair to have cast him to fill CFY shoes in this show
How is this the FL's fault ? This drama sucks and the ML is a big part of it, his face feels always fearfull even…
😅😅 Poor Xiao Zhan!!! He was tired and swamped and drained by this terrible script and the worst FL actress IMO I have seen in Cdrama.
So I was right that he lost his mojo in this swamp.
You might not have seen some of his stellar work - I have and it was one of the main draws for me to check out this drama.
He is one of the best actors in the Chinese stable of actors.. But an actor can only go so far in the hands of a mediocre director and unimaginative, dull script

The script too did nothing to lift her character (or anyone's character for that matter).
The Mother of Crown Prince actress (also in LLTG as a "cold" awol mom) is the only one who was worth admiring and looking at in the 2 eps I tried out. And oh - before I forget - I feel so sorry for for Xiao Zhan eating his time in this drama.. It would be a pain to watch him suffer through this 🫣 How he shines in the A grade dramas (so talented- this was a bad call and I guess he couldn't back out).
Going on to take a sip at LLTG to cleanse my palate from the bad taste of a poor show.

@Kinara It's tragic that I had to opt out of watching an interesting drama with a fave actor Xiao Zhan because of my dislike of Actress YZ.
We all have actresses (and actors but for me more often actresses) who just look so annoying (visual wise how they carry their faces) and enact their roles in such infantile or spineless manner that you can't bear to watch them. YZ is my bane ever since I checked her out in Go Go Squid....

I developed tunnel vision following him through almost 12-13 eps (FFD mode of course) and needed to turn down our room temperature.
The camera knew how to blow up his oomph factor...
And the FL was as rag doll as the worst actress can get.
This was classic plastic CDrama which turns people off.. Except I couldn't get enough of the ML visuals
