10 stars for the amazing actors and their acting skills, 3 stars for the "story". The story consist of pieces…
ROFL - Like I said .. It's a compliment to say the drama had plot holes .. you need a plot to begin with to have holes in them ROFL
But honestly I had a blast in the first half of the Drama .. all the scheming, lying, tricking, doing good, ass-kicking by Bai Lu was DELIGHTFUL to say the least. I loved Leon Lai .. MYGAWD why hasn't he been scooped up for MAJOR ML roles till date.
Why isn't he noticed by a GREAT writer - director DUO?
Saw a lot of cute snippets and reels on youtube and Instagram and wanted to watch this but then saw the low rating…
You will enjoy and laugh so much watching the first half .. Bai Lu role as kick Ass Gang Boss is superb .. you will even enjoy many eps of the second half .. Then I'd recommend one of 2 options ~ just lay back and FFD to the end just to know what is endgame ~ drop it and find a fan fic of it or write / imagine one for yourself ;-p
I was so excited and watched the first half of the (pre-palace entry .. well actually even several episodes into palace) drama, laughing, chuckling RELISHING every bit of Bai Lu's role as the kick ass Gang Boss, she is written SO well .. the knitting of the tension so engaging .. the various ways she outwits and keeps being Top Dog in a tough man's world.
And then it starts to unravel .. by the end the drama is shred to a nuisance pile of illogical rubbish; saying that there are plot holes in the second part is a compliment; there is nothing of plot left to even make a hole in it (ROFL).
Overall because - I LAUGHED so much and ENJOYED the Gang Boss in Silver City SO MUCH - thrilled to have discovered a HIGHLY talented ML - Leon Lai - with so much potential who delivers along with Bai Lu
I felt generous enough to donate 1.5 point extra to the 6.0 I was itching to give it .. the end left such a BAAD taste. So it's a 7.5 / 10
Have fun tripping on Bai Lu (and Leon Lai) in Silver City .. and then go glug a gin and tonic with a drama buddy and have a roaring laugh at the absurdity the drama descends to once Changan is reached.
Such stellar cast, great acting… and that wasn’t enough to save the mediocre story. I wish to see Leon Lai…
NOW I saw why this Drama became a disaster.

Story is speeding SO FAST. It's not often a Cdrama moves THIS fast and keeps its grip on tension creation, humour, feelz .. the works basically.
Bai Lu kicks ass like she does in her best shows ~ TTEOTM ~ Only for Love
LOVING it and wondering now WHAT THE "something" happened with the ratings?!!
How bad did the drama crash to land a 7.7??
I mean at Ep 16 experience I have already rated it at 8 plus. It's not BIG BUDGET .. not stylised camerawork .. It would shoot close to 9 if it was that ..
Till the End of the Moon left the lasting impression on my psyche. This show is seared into my brain – branded – burned – clawed and scarred.
As an avid lover of melodrama, I naturally ate up this tale of woe and passive-aggressive romance like I was a kid in a candy store. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, I love more than an outcast boy who falls in love with the first person who is nice to him and never lets her/him go. It’s what made Wuthering Heights a classic story of insane lovers driving each other insane. It’s what made Queen Seondeok one of the most devastating romances of all time. It’s a trope that is hard to pull off successfully, but when executed correctly is sure to lodge itself into your heart for all eternity.
The opening scene of this drama was incredible. I mean… wow… the goth theatrics! It starts off at the end of this massive war between gods and demons, with the world basically destroyed and only a fraction of the heavenly realm still standing. Our Demon King is flying through the air on this dragon-drawn sled through dark clouds and lightning… I mean… my jaw dropped to the floor.
This drama seals it for me the theory that Asian Drama (Korean and Chinese is all I have watched) is a solid raving hit for some and a clunky rattle of tin cans for some.
Apologies in advance .. I scrolled and didnt see much "disliked and dropped" comments .. So just to create variety here and maybe draw in a few more eyeballs of those who also didn't glom on to the show, leaving my impression of it.
I started the first episode and was swept up in the intrigue .. I even told a friend "I think I've found a GREAT mystery - thriller type show which has a talented HOTTIE ML and a promising FL."
At Ep 3 - 4 I started to hear the clunky empty tin cans. I couldn't bear to sit through the plodding pace and FL (who by now had degenerated into a Chen Xiao sort of single expression (less) repertoire) and SFL (carried the same face throughout the show in all the scenes almost) acting ..
I jumped episodes right to the end ones and felt like the story hadn't come to life with blood gushing through it even then .. A thriller that feels so pale .. And then the end ?? Goodness I finally realised why the director and scriptwriter ended up with the pale script .. in the hopes that the final reveal would feel like a BOMB.
LOL It kind of bombed for me ;-p
Thank God I didn't end up with a burst limp balloon in my hand after a 20 ep run ..
(LIE TO ME .. the same thing happened .. an exciting story fell down the rabbit hole thanks to bland faced CX .. how long can LYX hold the screen with his stellar acting :-( I havent gone to the end of that .. because just in case I want to revive it for the love of watching LYX do his thing).
SILVER LINING : Discovery of the acting skills of ML Li Zi Feng. Kind of has Chen Kun vibes. Am off to hunt LZF shows :-D
Hope this comment is taken in a spirit of sharing our personal thoughts and not as a diss of others who enjoyed it a lot .
to those who hate open endings, I will not sugarcoat it, this drama is not for you. This will be frustrating to…
I am OK with (and even quite ENJOY) open endings BUT it will have to be a drama with some PRETTY HEAVY DUTY acting / screenplay / directing / OST.. The works!!
One that is so solid and compelling that you are OK with it being a sad or open ended.
I'd probably scream and shoot myself if an open ending was thrown at me if I slogged my way through a medium.. Not that great a show.
Not sure I want to watch a comedy with open ending. Comedies need to end in happy and laughs for me
this is an interesting comment because L&R is probs one of the heaviest dramas i ever had to watch. it was so…
😂🤣😂 I know - L&R is a much loved one by so many people (even of many with whom I have a good overlap of drama likes).
However I have never been able to get past certain sort of actresses / actors who are just not my cuppa.
I'll take a second look / try. If my description of them (as I wrote above) still holds true for me even after that I'll.. Sigh have to put it to rest in my Drama Grave yard.
🤣🤣🤣 just started my 3rd rewatch. It's so rich for the pickings
April 2024 you mean ;-p
I hadn't meant to rewatch now .. But guess what happened. A real life Drama friend RAVED about LYF (Lost you Forever) / TLP (The Longest Promise). I dropped LYF - ML couldn't hold my attention (IMO poor acting and such unimaginative story telling and structure of plot and low quality script .. Mind you it's just my impression of it) Then tried TLP (eeeesh .. from the frying pan into the fire) the FL was such a disaster even the promise of Xiao Zhan couldn't hold me back ..
I had such an intense aftertaste left from BAD ACTING and poor script that to return my feel good I decided to JUST GLIMPSE at one of my ALL TIME tops Xanxia - TTEOTM.
Got trapped .. barely one episode in LOL and this is my 3rd watch.
Can you elaborate on why you feel she's miscasted? The Zhu Yan character from the original novel is supposed to…
LOL
I had SUCH A BAD aftertaste post checking out the show that I thought I'd just play a wee bit of TTEOTM to refill on 'good acting' .. THEN guess what??
Yeah I am on my 3rd rewatch LOL Doomed and cannot extricate myself .. so compelling because so many gaps in my understanding of the show was yet to be filled .. the better I had got to know what will happen in the show .. the more I am noticing the detail of what preceded and how and when the arcs were bending .. and so many why's are getting answers.
PLUS I get to minutely observe LYX and BL and other actors who excelled and try to understand what do they do with their bodies and faces that make then SUCH talented actors, which sets them apart from the hoi polloi of rest of the actors in CDrama
But DAMN!! I'm procrastinating on work I had set aside during this drought ..

The script is so schizoid !!! I was like WHAT!??
~ 8.5 /10 (pre-palace segment)
~ 7.5 / 10 (few eps of early Palace segment)
~ 4.0 / 10 (Ep 30 onwards)

you gave me goosebumps!!!
My middle school Literature came flying in from eons ago .. Heathcliff hammered our hearts SO BAAAD!!
I think the Brönte sisters would be TOP Asian Drama scriptwriters .. as would Ms Austen
Thank you for digging up that quote.
My teen mind did not FEEL the agony of these lines the way my full grown adult mind and heart does.
The ML must have held back .. or the director was weird!!!
Bai Lu is a generous actress when it comes to skinship in shows. (MWAHS)
And until now her co-actors have been equally generous .. LYX and Dylan Wang and oooo BOY ZLH was an explosion
Story is speeding SO FAST. It's not often a Cdrama moves THIS fast and keeps its grip on tension creation, humour, feelz .. the works basically.

Tan Tai Jin!!!!!!!
How can he not RULE the top actor spot!!
"This show is seared into my brain – branded – burned – clawed and scarred."
That's me !!!
3rd watch down!
FULLY, comprehensively, totally, completely reflects my feelz / thots / emos on the show ..
Ya'll must read her at her blog site - sparkles with wit ..
