Is there any skinship / steamy kiss scenes in this drama.
There is such high octane business happening if its not balanced by some serious relationships; push and pull and emotional growth alongwith- the show might feel dry to watch .. unless of course thats what one is hoping to get out of it - a lot of real life business situations
I'm loving this drama. So glad I wasn't deterred by the dumb opinions and rating. Give it a chance! on episode…
Me too .. I had started and then stopped and have picked it up again.
I am so glad that I went back to it.
Am Ep 8 and it's holding taut and in character. VERY MATURE drama that's bypassing many character tropes .. All the leads are well rounded .. and thankfully there IS a proper crisis, not one that is lazily thrown into the mix ..
Also the older woman - younger man tale is SO believable! It's bypassed all the silly stuff and FL is acting her age and maturity and ML is absolutely being his age too.
Look forward to checking back with you .. we might end up doing this show together ;-p
AND it's HILARIOUS!!! Not lame / slapstick hilarious but low key, tongue in cheek hilarious .. miss it if you blink funny
I too agree that this was a classic. One of the TOP Period Dramas.
(The last episode could have used a tighter, more quirky, tongue in cheek, wink at the audience ending .. BUT overall the preceding 54-55 episodes were SO SO SO delish .. that it's easy to overlook ;-p)
I love this drama, the best drama so far 9/10, even the motion pic is one of the best movie quality, the screen…
Agree .. I took away point (ok half a point since the rest of the show was SO SO TIGHT).
The last 2 eps were too Saccharine .. and lacked the quirky feel which was so well maintained throughout. It was too tame and thus bordered on flaccid .. Needed some tongue in cheek kind of a wink at 'goodbye great drama'
Just finished watching this the 2nd time around and it was just as good as the first time if not better! I picked…
I almost didn't watch it .. had dropped it on the first round even though I found the show's first few episodes to be so unusual, quirky, sparky, promising a good ride. I wasn't able to get on with the ML.
I was testing this show during my trapped in "Lighter and Princess" powerful vortex when nothing was able to hold my attention ;-D
SO 2.5 months after L&P effects receded a bit and with some great nudge from a fellow MDL pal I decided to return for a second look.
And OMG .. IT WAS TERRIFIC!!
How often this has happened .. I made a mistaken judgement call on whether I will like a show and then was zapped!
I agree with you .. Its a 10 for rewatch on this. Soon as the last episode finished I put on the first!! AND I was like ..GOSH .. Am I returning to this show soon enough
OH THANK YOU for sharing this.Thank Goodness I didn't start watching this .. so many people raved about it ..…
:-D thanks for the lucid brief.
Now I'll surely check it out and see if captures me. I did have it hanging around on my list for a very long while now Well, ever since I expanded my Drama picks from "ONLY Kdrama" to "CDrama also" about 2 months ago (been watching Drama since Jun 2020).
Now, recently I got curious again., a friend had raved about it .. and the steep ratings spoke for its popularity.
My ALL TIME top fave 'saeguks' (period setting dramas - based on real or fictional adaptations or original screenplays) are:
- Empress Ki - The Red Sleeves - Bloody Heart (aka Crimson Heart) - Hwang Jin Yi - Queen Seon Dok
;-D you get the drift LOL
ALL Heavy Lifting Women as central movers and the interplay of passions and power and how intricately threaded they often are.

Thank you for this brief :-)
I think I will need to check it out and get a feel of it.
Caveat : a tale is always enriched and multidimensional when men-women attractions are also threaded into its plot, romance may not be the main focus but if it's completely lacking as one of the central forces in human drama, action, motivation, emotions it does feel "DRY" ;-p
Especially if the time scale of the drama is vast or significant, or of a lifespan.
Curious to see how 'harem' politics played out without 'romance' / sexual tension being a prime mover.
Any love triangles? When do the leads develop feelings for each other/become a couple?
This was one of the most terrible breakdown of communication I have witnesses in the last one month of being on MDL discussion threads.
If it's any solace @Vincenzo Cassano lemme c/p an obnoxious / racist comment this person (@Nonsuch left (below) which no one has picked up on .. This person posts the following comment!!
"Why are friends neighbors and co-workers in Korean dramas so obsessed with other people relationships and families? They are so intrusive and obnoxious , like dogs sniffing and yapping and howling! Is it true to culture or just a drama trope?"
I was on the verge of reporting it .. but that would be tantamount to cleaning up undesirable excretions.
One wonders how this human lost their way and came to spit in DramaLand. We might need to guide them back out .. like well behaved bouncers at respectable clubs.

I disagree with @Nonsuch
.. ALL dramas with relationships DO NOT have 3 humans in romantic entanglements!!
Top off of my head examples of TWO famous and MOST popular highly rated on MDL dramas:
~ Healer ~ Flower of Evil ~ My Mister ~ My Name
Yes MANY (maybe even most) do, that's because its the easiest go-to plot device to up the story complexity, to give definition to the personalities in play and playoff various dynamics that create the arcs for the leads.
There are dramas who do it brilliantly making the viewer go off on a rollercoaster of emotions because empathy is SO evenly spread for all 3 leads, and the show ends up being both satisfactory and yet heartbreaking.
Eg ~ Heirs (is their anyone who didn't scream for a sequel where Kim Woo Bin gets his LOVE) ~ Jealousy Incarnate (torn between the TWO dream guys) ~ Reply 1988 (how many didn't feel they heart break in two at the FAMOUS get together scene where the 'said ring' is discussed)

Am not clicking on the next comment from you with spoiler tag!!!!!
What freakinโ SOLID MATURE SHOW!!!!!
On Ep 13 and not batting a lid - edge of seat.
How REAL and organic the characters are.
Had not expected such a mature show since V.I.P.
I am so glad that I went back to it.

Did you just finish the show?

Just my tuppence.
If I am not wrong it rings and is functional, and part of the story revolves around land line telephones. No?
I watched this show some 3 years ago I think, in the early days of my Kdrama Life.
SKJ DOES NOT carry a PHONE is an important point made in the show.

WHY are you torturing yourself hanging out in Drama Land .. Shouldn't you be off Asian Dramas in general ?
You'd be better served by Netflix / HBO maybe :-D
