Does this drama have a significant or important romance - relationship angle. Not just as an add-on cream fluff dusting which is of little impact on the script...
I would be interested to watch this then.
I love medical dramas that can weave in romantic entanglement into its main body : ~ Dr Romantic (all seasons) ~ Hospital Playlist (both seasons)
i am at ep 5 and i just cant seem to get the hype. can anyone tell me if it gets better or maybe this just isnt…
You are wasting your time. If it did not grab you in the first many minutes .. and glued you in for few eps in a row .. it's guaranteed not your cuppa ;-p
Any romance ? I like a bit to hold my interest, similar to Go Ahead.
Oh ABSOLUTELY!! But it's NOT the MAIN story or focus .. it's there woven in as a soft but VERY ALIVE thread .. becomes stronger once the cast is older AND an ESSENTIAL part of the weave
I AGREEShe wrote very well but this was a BIG blunder .. I don't know I should thank her or be mad!!It prepared…
For me ALL 4 parts were a 10/10
Lots of viewers didn't watch Sword of Aramun because of change of leads .. and some I guess lost momentum since the 4th was released post covid (4 years later) ..
In the DRAMA Part 4 happens AFTER A DECADE.
I found the older versions of the adolescent leads (SJK and KJW) so PERFECT in the casting and in their delivery of the now mature and experience hardened adults ..
Definitely I'm here for Liu Xue Yi. Not a fan of the FL. I dived into this drama to check if it has the same vibe…
Very interesting write up ;-p
It's ironic that those VERY points you bring out so well that the story deals with is exactly why the drama was a 10/10 for me.
I guess I am a sucker for COMPLEX situations - characters - no easy resolutions - and "open ended" explorations of scenarios. I find them more thought churning and feeling swishing ..

I just swung by to check on one of my fave dramas .. I do that .. to connect with fellow watchers who enjoyed it thoroughly.
I looked up your profile page :-)
SJK?? FABULOUS ACTOR.
BUT BUT BUT BUT .. you haven't watched Arthdal Chronicles??!!
IMO (through my lens) it was his BEST EVER performance .. given just how tremendously complex the dramas is.
I've plastered SO MANY comments on the drama (and his role and acting too) on all the 4 parts ..
But yes you would have to be a History nerd, a fantasy genre nerd AND therefore a total Historical Fantasy nut to enjoy this as much as those who did and rated the seasons >9
so many people drop this drama cuz they don't like sad ending π€£This drama is 10/10 for me!
True.
I gave it a 9.5/10 I couldn't root for or get behind SML's role, in the manner it was delivered .. or maybe a more suitable casting was needed for that character.
It was 'annoying' and left me with an itch. If I could be taken on board the SML's character, could have been left with that complex feeling of 'grief - nostalgia - longing' for FL and ML along with the 'comfort and solace' of SML (had I been charmed by him too).
The best way I can describe it is by comparing it to all those dramas when our heart is shattered by the SML not getting the FL although we are still in love and happy that the ML and FL get a H.E.
:-D
The immediate example that pops up is from Kdrama ~ Kim Woo Bin's character in HEIRS - my eyes pricked and throat was constricted ~ Ryu Jun Jun Yeol's character in REPLY 1988 (I could feel the STAB he felt - and the longing and loss in his eyes ALMOST until the end of the drama) ~ Liu Xue Yi in WHAT IF (wah!!! That stab in the heart did come .. and lifted the DRAMA to a 10/10 for me)
When actors - directors - writers PULL it off with aplomb .. that touch of "citrus-bitters" the 'enjoyment' of a delicious cocktail is lifted to a PERFECT 10 - mic drop moment

It's also not on the MDL tags.
WOWOWOW
So many of the comments on this says (or that is what I picked up) that it has no romance angle π΅βπ«
I LOVE medical dramas.
Entire Dr Romantic series and Hospital Playlist..
But I need some proper romance relationship angle in it.
And it's plot and appeal was not lost because it had a strong romance thread.
Many viewers get upset if dramas have romance...
While some get upset if THE ENTIRE drama is not a romance ππ
It won't rise beyond this rating - might even fall below this in future
Some very "boring" people with no romance in life wrote the script πππ
Really???
No fun

Enjoy ;-p
DO leave comments on the MDL thread .. I'll go back and check ;-p
I watched the ENTIRE 2 seasons on Netflix (season 1 is parts 1-3 and season 2 is Part 4) TWICE back to back
The second run was MORE enjoyable because so much of the complexities fell into place for me .. as well as I grabbed the plotting WAY BETTER

I loved AC so much that I never miss a chance to promote it
ROFL
Hope it's something you enjoy too :-D

I think you will like it if Timmy Xu was a big draw here for you
I know what you mean.
I cant go back to it even now - such is the bruise left by it
