While waiting for the episodes of The double, I thought of checking this one out.. since I heard its a hilarious…
OH SO GLAD you watched it. I was giggling away right through this ABSOLUTE DELIGHT of a drama .. the FL cuddled into my heart - LOVED her.
And I have a THING for spoilt CUTE BRAT ML roles when done well .. Eg WXY here and JCW (Ji Chang Wook - Wookie) in Empress Ki (he crushed my heart to pulp in that one for sure!!)
I also don't understand the ratings, because with all my love for Gong Yoo it's a boring dragging story of rich…
Oh dear (oh reindeer?! π π )
I think I barked up the wrong tree.
Are you sure you are here to watch ASIAN DRAMA, the same way most of MDL members are?
You may have been misled here looking for "Asian" equivalent of Sundance - Telluride - Cannes - Toronto etal festival fare??π π
I am afraid you are in the wrong neighborhood.
The flavours and smells of this part of popular entertainment is VERRRY distinct from the places where Baby Reindeer goes clubbing.
It's NOT David Lynch - Jim Jarmusch - Steven Soderberg - Michael Haneke world...
Just saying!!!
To talk about oranges to compare with apples... Umm. π²π€π€ Lemons and sweet lime would be still be acceptable.. to weigh in while talkind about Oranges, no?
π€£π€£π€£
I'll recommend quitting Asian Drama (especially Chinese and Korean) and finding the right streaming platform.
TRY MUBI?? Expensive BUT Stellar compendium if you are seeking "Baby Reindeer" brethren πΊπΊπΊ
It's a treasure house.
When I want to go for Michelin experience I do head there... But recently after discovering the hot-pot of Street Food and exotica (C and K Dramas) - the buzz is so addictive.. mouthwatering .. That I haven't been back to MUBI .. except occasionally ..

That's one way of looking at the "elephant" .. but if one were to pull back one might notice the other larger issues which are impacting the stories of these individuals : ~ destructive fallout of 'social media cancel' culture ~ taboos around LGBTQ ~ domestic violence ~ soul-less marriages ~ parental bullying ~ personal responsibility to be answerable to one's closest friends - lovers - spouses ~ unequal division of household labour ~ 'trapped with kids' for lack of quality affordable childcare ~ lack of understanding of 'mental health' issues ~ drug abuse
How well these issues are woven into the fabric of a superlative STORY arc with atmospheric OST - Cinematography - set design - editing and acting .. subtle but strong .. overt moralising dialogues are minimal .. style matches content ..
Of course one can ONLY see what one is ABLE to see .. but sad that the deeper layers of important issues went unnoticed .. Not sure if this elaboration helped ..
Hope no one wastes their time watching a full drama if they cant get into it ;-D
I am a serial DROPPER of dramas .. This one I BINGED ALL night ..
I gave it a >9 rating.. The only GRIPE I had was that the mother was not given her just desserts in the end. She should have been left to stew solo at home... Nothing makes us want to forgive her...she was created as pure evil (so come on scriptwriter give us a closure on her... Since nothing in the drama showed her "human frailty" that we could use to accept her being let off so lightly).
I always find it achy to watch lovers fall apart due to circumstances and missed chances or blind spots .. ~ Twenty One - Twenty Five ~ What If ~ Discovery of Romance ~ Nevertheless ~ Love Alarm ~ Reply 1988 ~ Age of Innocence ~ It Happened in Bali
~ the ginger slicing scene ~ the stranded in the rain gasoline ran out scene ~ the bike teaching scene
Oh the many many many ways a "stuck up" guy can try to wangle a gal he knows likes him but he just cant seem to catch the slippery fish...and is too self doubting and unsure about her..
Just delightful playing going on.... Giggling so much.. Zero AEGYA CUTESIE ACTING.. So much of flirting from Johnny π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
She is teetering too.. But swatting him away like a fly πππππππ
After Love is Sweet and Only for Love.. It's rom-com OTP manna - slurp away those of you with a case of Johnny-Flu
How in π€¦π½ββοΈπ΅βπ«π€π₯΄ the world does one even understand this 8/10 rating?
Ufff π€£π€£π€£π€£ I shall forever be shocked in MDL πππ Even after so long of knowing how radically opposite my own ratings are very often π π π
This was a SOLID 9.5/10 DRAMA for me π₯°π₯°
Classy - mature - stylish - with two of the heavyweights of KDrama.. The OST itself would bump up the ratings by a few notches.. And the Cinematography and thoughtful mise-en-scene drive it up even more.
You are a Drama Veteran..and we have many "likes" in common.. So based on that I think you will DIG this.. Plus you've already enjoyed Dilruba roles...she won't disappoint in this either.

Or read the reviews which do that.
This reviewer was giving her own "view" of the drama and commenting on it.
What a brilliantly written complex character.
Heart breaking to see him trapped in his own inner prison.
Lovely lovely lovely Drama.
π―π―π―π― agree.

My REWATCH comfort drama, inspite of that.
Not sure how it turned out in the end..
I had dropped it.. Because at one point it seemed to meander a lot (in the early parts.
Maybe I am ready to revisit it π
It's been 4 years since I had attempted it.
Wonder how Song Joon Ki will feel.like after Johnny Huang in My Dear Guardian π
Heart twisty!!

What a SATISFYING SOLID ALL NIGHT BINGE!!!!
It's the CUTEST romance playout of all the Johnny Huang dramas IMO
Check for yourself. ESP if you DIG the sort of roles Johnny excels at - this one totally takes the cake..
Compare him in Song of Winter or Bright Eyes in the Dark. The FLs giveπ―π―
Maybe I need to take a quick look again
