Then there is something off in that it's NOT AT ALL 'clear' in the structuring of the first episode
- there was NO HINT that these two knew each other .. NO hint at ALL about them having ANY previous connect!!

- It was like a random radio show caller that connected with her and she was pissed at being called given her condition ..

- The caller on the other end seemed as clueless about this cussing listener.

- Then in some 'future' date (post-switch of persona) she is goo-goo ga ing with a friend about this idol having been in her school and they didn't know of him??

SO WHEN was the 15 years back she knew him?
Or 15 years later she is all grown up and looking for a job??

The timeline has me axed .. and MOSTLY because FL is on some magic potion that preserved her and her ML in picture postcard "same age" and 'same style' over 15 years

Maybe I will squint my way past the OVER-BRIGHT and OVER-ZEALOUS BOMB of Positivity to try catch the LOOPY timeline

Usually a SOLID drama does a BRILLIANT jump which is an INSTANT visual giveaway of the Cast (without any on screen text cueing the viewer) on time lapse.

There wasn't ANY foreshadowing AT ALL in the drama ..

I just posted fresh comment after being gut punched by how quickly the drama devolved

So anyway I was coaxed by an MDL pal to check this show out.

I was avoiding it (apologies if I hurt the feelz of the ML shippers of this show) because I kind of simmer down when I find Actors from what seems (clearly) intensive reconstructive work that left the face almost immobile 🫢

You know.. The crinkles around eyes.. The corners of lips. Chins.. Cheeks.. All those micro expressions that lift the ACTING SKILL to the next level.

I enjoyed the actress in her previous support and guest roles.. And was looking foward to watching her take on a major role.

Ep 1 begins with her hitting the ball out the park and I was cosying up for a cuppa to sink into the drama.

However a few more scenes on I am popping out my seat as I feel a wreck coming up - why did the FL suddenly switch into this cringey - over smiling blinding floodlight that is washing out ALL detail and beauty that the beginning seemed to promise!!!

Am guessing his words forged a miracle for her??
But this Polar shift - total mind boggling persona swiping change (and forced cheerful expression) isn't working IMO.

TO SWAT the viewer with this "metamorphosis" required some work which would create some plausibility.

Anyway am now going to scroll to see if anyone else felt this jarring switch...

But strangely it (LR) didn't generate even a fraction of the buzz that QOT did

Was it (QOT) all about "pushing" product by pro publicity teams? Or genuine viewer driven interest?

Without too much fear of being pulped (IMO) I found QOT highly underwhelming.
The publicity went overboard..

It was ridiculous (IMO) to imagine that it would replace CLOY or GOBLIN in viewer's opinion.

The rate at which I drop dramas is no joke .. not much sunshine in those discards LOL

BUT yes I have been lucky to find enough GREAT dramas to not lose my joy of Drama yet ;-p

p.s. I am relatively new to CDrama (which I had a serious bias against and wouldn't touch them with a barge pole) compared to Kdrama (started in May 2020 Covid days saviour).

Last Aug I watched my first CDrama .. and had it NOT clicked with a 10/10 I'd never have bothered with the Cdrama ever again LOL

BUT I hit Bull's Eye with the best to start me off (best obviously IMO)

~ Hidden Love (my first Cdrama as One Spring Night was my first KDrama)
~ FOMH (Fireworks of my Heart)
~ Lighter and Princess
~ Ever Night

And I had already tasted the BEST amongst them in a row ;-p

I was hooked.

It's RIDICULOUS that the world in general will be introduced to CIXIN LIU's MASTER WORK through a CHEESY - CRINGEY version from the US mass market production line.

The TAG doesn't have it but there is lots of relationships mentioned - ALL non-romantic?

Am SO in love with WLIS .. that I wanted to watch Li Xian in another drama

I gave it a 9/10

Because it had elements in the first half that were fantastic for me .. besides LYX in a 'negative role' and many angles that are not commonly seen in drama. The FL too was great (if ONLY she was directed better in her 'romance' side).

I was willing to completely rework the end in my head (even keeping the plot points) to lift it to a 9 ..

Sometimes a GREAT drama potential is SO BADLY frittered away that you are left to wonder WHO MESSED it up??

A 7,0 / 10 for me; SOLELY because of HOW SUPERB the actors were .. and how well they tried to hold the leaky show-ship afloat.

Their characters were SO well formulated ,, BUT IMO the script couldn't stitch it well ,, the ACTORS took the needle and tried the best they could ..

The side characters - YAWN!!

I am so sad to see this GREAT POTENTIAL frittered away.

Not giving up on Gong Jun and the roles he did in other shows hopefully will also be as interesting as the one he essayed in RISING WITH THE WIND

this could have been such a SOLID show .. made with wit - angst - drama - tinge of Melo.

I started watching it with great expectations since its Zhou Yi Tong (fell in love with her in WLIS) and since it's Gong Jun (am fresh from watching him for the first time in RISING WITH THE WIND and was blown away with what a good actor he was).

Like you said it got all messy and annoying quickly enough .. and then at 1/3rd of the of show it started to come apart completely and the ONLY reason I stayed with my fingers on FFWD were the TWO main LEADs - ZYT and GJ .. they were the stars .. their couple scenes, their story line .. and if one could strip away ALL the fluff and dangly mess of other boring as hell couples and irritating characters that felt so tacked on just to give volume to a show that should have ended at 12 eps .. and stayed focused ONLY on these two Leads and the essential support cast required for their direct story line.

I finally got too tired of scrolling and hunting for their scenes and their thread .. I DROPPED it .. exhausted and also ROI of time began to dip and I started to feel so sorry for these 2 superb actors who were wasted here.

I think I was lucky recently to have watched quite a few Alpha Female Dramas which were SIMPLY KNOCK-OUT shows.
