A million times better than Something In The Rain, which went in such stupid direction during 2nd half! 🤦🏻♀️Not…
@JulySnow2
LOL Hi there!!
So lovely to see you here. No idea why I stopped by OSN after 4 years LOL
It was MY FIRST Kdrama. I learnt about what KDrama was from a friend during Covid Lockdown days :-p
And that's how I survived those crazy years. Kept me sane and entertained. While people drank an LOT of WINE / BEER .. I sucked up Kdrama - ha ha ha ha
Anyway I KNOW for SURE .. that if my friend, who knows me well, had NOT started me with OSN .. I wouldn't have gotten into Kdrama.
I was HOOKED from the first few frames of the two friends walking up the street with their dinner .. The phone call that came just as they sat down to eat - set the tone.
I am also on board with you about SITR .. It started off delightfully .. BUT FL turning 'wimpy-lame' being shown to have no agency .. the constant battering of her psyche .. just dragged it down a LOT.
It happens IRL too .. But I wasn't interested in watching a character like this (I cant identify with personalities like that). A drippy-drama .. I FFWDed chunks just to move to the end and see how it ended.
That's the difference between the two FLs .. one was STRONG and had agency .. the other was shown at the mercy of the office idiots and the world in general .. and she was about to cry at the drop of a hat.
"Ki Seok behavior felt way overboard and not totally realistic."I once knew a guy who behaved more or less like…
@MikeG I also saw it as a 'misunderstanding' followed up by a 'cooling off' period until that got sorted out.
It happens IRL.
The back and forth fights; the make up and breakup and makeup is so real life.
That's the MAIN reason I loved the DRAMA .. it was slice of life drama for me.
With real adults and the ups and downs that can happen.
Some people, like the SML, can go psycho and upset (but he was redeemed in the end) and some people (the FL) try to gently let down or get closure in the relationship in the best possible way. She was decent enough to take the time to do that.
Anyway OUR own experiences and life scripts have given us our unique lenses through which we view life and human actions, and interpret them using our own rubric ..
It's interesting to read the various reactions the show had .
AMAZING that the show STILL maintained a 8.3 rating ;-p
I get Korean culture is different from western culture but I do not think she is actually cheating on him it is…
@MikeG YUP
Over the years I have notices that Drama Viewers get triggered by any MAIN character (pr side roles of importance) showing any sort of grey - complex characters which explore how people act and behave IRL.
Most viewers enjoy watching "Green Flag" characters who display and model ideal behaviour, follow the norm of what is deigned "correct" and seen as 'ethical".
Any exploration of true behaviour that span the entire range of the HUMAN CONDITION goes under the 'judges gavel' - case closed.
OSN explores that complex man-woman relationship and allows us to watch how they deal with the feelings and emotions and incidents that happen in their lives - family-wise / friendship-wise / romance-wise.
The script writer shows GREAT empathy for the characters stuck in their own hell and inner conflict .. and there is redemption in the end ..
This started out so beautifully. But now I am close to the end I want to cry with boredom!! I am just going to…
Post WLIS I am in a slump - dropped a few from my PTW and Hold list.
Am curious to see if this gives me a rise.
I have become a little jaded I think. Only an off the beaten path fresh and brilliant OTP with complex (non-goody-2-shoes) characters grab my Attention now.
Bad-ass FL or ML are my main draws now. Think Tan Tai Jin - Li Xun - the FITYMI couple - and most recently FL in WLIS.
And not to forget Ling Bui and Niao Niao. Ufff just superb those two portrayal.s.
Hidden Love was a one off , super Green Flags. It's the delicate And superlative handling of all the cinematic elements with an exceptional script that raised it to top class drama.
Above is just my opinion and feelz from the Dramas.
I just checked your watchlist.
We HAVE so much LIKES in common.
Amazing .. especially those which other have found intolerable.
If you are OK : I'll make a recommendation that might JUST start up your Cdrama Journey.
(I am new to Cdrama (compared to Kdrama for 3 years .. this is just 9 months old) but I have seen some terrific dramas there).
SO here goes:
On Viki now - 21 delicious nutrient filled episodes that wrapped recently
"Will Love In Spring" (WLIS)
Or you could try :
Fake it Till you Make it
Or you could try :
Lighter and Princess
Lemme know ;-p
It was my FIRST DRAMA
Yippeee
Another adult making adult observations ;-p

It explored SO MANY issues in a mature way.

That's IMO a sign of a MATURE ADULT drama :-D
AGREE!!
Excellent explanation.
Yes I saw it with this lens too.
Me too.
I buzz around my old faves and LOVE it, more than sitting through something that just doesn't float my boat.
Enjoyed reading - short and yet captures the MAIN essence of why the Show didn't work for so many of us.
The two top reviews from :
@Shinnsuke-Lee and
@Who Cares
resonated well with me. Also very well expressed.
My greatest Disappointment because the HYPE went OVERBOARD 🙄
I mean : beat a gem like CLOY?!
JUST the CHEMISTRY between their OTP could have powered an entire behemoth of a Drama.
CLOY I watched TWICE.
And Goblin!!! Seriously?! What a BRILLIANT and fresh sparking hot Drama those two were.
Well expressed.
You and I click often.
Did you already watch QOT?
I did.
Am curious to see if this gives me a rise.
