yeah I agree it was really colorful and pretty cringe imo but the leads are two of the better post-90s actors these days and I think it's sticking kinda close to the novel so I hope it's okay lol
It's going to be a long while until this drama comes out. I read online that Wang Zi Wen said that they have just barely started brainstorming/writing the script. Also the fact that Daylight's directors are currently directing 3-4 other dramas right now, so they will have to finish those ones first before starting ODJ3.
Everything that's come out about this drama thus far has been super promising - even more so than Tribes and Empires,…
totally agree. With LHR's booming popularity as well as that amazing ensemble cast, it'd be hard for this drama not to get a TV station to air it. Plus the two other dramas being produced by Linmon (Legend of Fu Yao, Only Side by Side With You) both got TV slots so I've got high hopes that it'll def get picked up by a station (which would make airing it so much easier omg).
I do think 6 books in 56 episodes is going to be kind of tough. Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan was 6 books (7 books depending on which version you're reading) and it was crammed into 76 episodes quite well (even though it was still really concise, they did leave out a lot of parts) so I'm kinda hoping they'll extend the episode count by just a tiny little margin. But hopefully all goes well!! :D
I am so confused, I finished until ep 41 on Croton Youtube's channel, and the ending of the episode seemed pretty…
the uncut/DVD version is 41 episodes (what Croton has on their channel), each about 45 minutes long. the one with 43 episodes is the TV version that Hunan TV airs and contains a recap of episodes from the night before. It's a weird cutting system LOL but it's essentially the same. hope this helps!
I wouldn't try to focus too much on the historical aspect of this drama, because to be honest, a lot of it is…
I think they should be made up, since it is adapted from a historical fiction romance novel LOL but if the people are not made up, then most of the events probably are
it is adapted from a Fei Wo Si Cun novel, who as an author, is known to have sad endings for her novels. And there were clips of the endnig roaming around before the show aired and it was sad.
-- is it me or the synopsis doesn't fit? Maybe I blinked at the beginning or skipped too much not wanting to get…
I wouldn't try to focus too much on the historical aspect of this drama, because to be honest, a lot of it is very whack since it's more of a historical fiction drama focused on a lot of drama and romance. Even me, who has a Chinese background and know a decent amount of Chinese history is quite confused LOL so I've given up haha
I think the main source for the confusion is that the story is being told in media res, so what happened in the past will probably be slowly told and unfold in future episodes. Fans on Weibo said that it's much easier to understnad if you've read the book LOL
But the synopsis seemes to follow the drama so far? The old flame is Pan Jianchi, who has become the personal bodyguard of Yi Liankai already in ep 4, and from the trailers, it was clear that she wasn't super willing to marry Yi Liankai and she's already mentioned that she married into the Yi family to help her father. Hope this helps?
can someone tell me if this gets better? on episode 2 and bored af.
try to get at least to eps 12-14 (this is where most people start absolutely loving it). But if after you finish ep 14 and you're still not hooked, then I would suggest dropping it! The first 10 or so episodes are necessary though, to set up the characters, plot points, backgrounds that will be essential for the rest of the story.
Really? Really? Really?! After waiting so long, we're finally getting it!But still why announce it at the last…
cdramas generally get announced last minute due to constant changes made by TV stations, censorship issues, etc. Usually they can be announced anywhere between 3-4 days in advance to a week in an advance and maybe at most a month in advance. SIF was announced about 3 days in advance.
I might watch this one soon
thanks for the insight!! :D

Him and the actress for Tong Tiantian are both currently attending Shanghai Theatre Academy

----------------SPOILER------------------------------
if I'm not wrong, Yi Liankai and his second brother both die at the end together(???)
