I think it depends if you're watching according to the TV version via Hunan TV or the DVD version via Croton Media's YT channel (lmao yeah it's confusing)

Hunan TV isn't airing the finale until March 3rd, so I'm gonna wait until then to check! But the ending of ep-41 seems really ending-like.......but also not LOL so I'll wait and see

I think I summarized it pretty well in my review above!!

Basically:
Main pairing was fun to watch and quite cute, even tho both characters were quite flawed and had their problematic moments. Supporting characters were pretty annoying for the most part; I would watch just for the leads.
Objectively, definitely not the best drama out there with quite a few issues and plot holes. However, subjectively, it COULD become a guilty pleasure, despite knowing it has huge flaws. Watch only if you fit one or more of the criteria I listed in my review.

I think it is the same. The synopsis is following the novel plot, and judging from comments on Weibo, fans saw certain scenes from the book. Idk, guess we'll wait and see?

Edit: I think Croton Media usually puts "大结局" (Grand Finale) in the title of the last episodes, and ep 41 doesn't have that.......so maybe there is 42 episodes LOL

really hoping that the story is decent. Jaywalk seems to pick up not-so-good modern dramas for some reason.......really don't want this drama to just be another drama where Jaywalk picked up any drama they could so that they could use Yang Mi to promote their other talents :// It'd be best if the drama was a good one and then they promoted their talents using YM's name

aside from that, I'm really excited to see YM in another drama!! :D

Yeah they finished airing in a month because Hunan TV releases 2 eps from Sun-Thurs and 1 ep from Fri-Sat.

There's actually a lot more actresses then just them three!! It's just them three are both popular mainland and internationally. There's a lot of actors who are only popular in mainland China, so the variety overseas may not seem as broad. Often times, dramas that are popular in China are often not popular overseas and vice versa due to different tastes. And often times the ones that get popular overseas tend to be similar, hence the repetitiveness.

Hi Exeo, I just submitted your newly written synopsis, because after watching the most recent episodes, I agree, it is a bit too spoiler-y, and I feel like his parents didn't really have THAT big of a hand in her parents death.......kind of misleading but nonethless the current synopsis reveals too much of the story. I wouldn't say Tong Wei is submissive, but she's definitely kind of the quiet type who enjoys the wild/outgoing type of people, which is probably why she's drawn to Xiaofei. I think a lot of her 三观 is pretty good. I think probably translates to life values/principles?? can't think of a good direct translate of it.

yeah I read that they didn't pass the SARFT regulations the first time (since originally Hunan TV was gonna air this in August 2017) but for what reasons, I have no clue. But that's also why there's dubbing over them. This drama has so many problems LOL but like CatoCat, it's become a guilty pleasure of mine as well.

from what I've seen on Weibo, I am pretty sure this should be adapting the novel, since it's being produced by the company that bought the novel copyrights (when TMOPB weren't able to). Not 100% sure but I think it should be!

I think her acting isn't as groundbreaking and amazing as it was in TMOPB but also her character itself in this drama is not very versatile, since the character is originally portrayed as a serious, slightly closed-off, career woman. But she does liven up at certain points.
