Well i thought he ended up with the right sister. 1st the one that ended up falling in love with him was using…
Yes it was a good show but the romance didn’t make sense.

He never actually liked the sister it’s clear he liked the FL and when he had sex with the sister he wasn’t even conscious or barely conscious

That makes it better then. Rather have a bad drama than dead actors/actresses

Does the character LiuYan have a love interest?

Much help would be appreciated.

Watching the actor (LiuYi Tong) in The To Speed and he has great chemistry with Zhang Yu Xi so hope he has a love interest here

Title A Beautiful Lie Spoiler
The trailer looks legit, I really want to watch it but then came the ratings, below 7 it's was meant to be disappointed.…
It had a strong start then just tailed off a large cliff caught fire then fell off another cliff.

The drama didn’t have my crying but laughing at how bad it became.

The second couple just pissed me off.

Yan Ze left Xiao Xiao because he felt wasn’t good enough and felt sorry for himself which destroyed Xiao Xiao then a green forest of a man / character Chen Shen came along and helped up gain self esteem and her self respect back ultimately making her more successful and confident.

Chen Shen fell in love with her but never told her, so he decided to stay by her side for 5-6 years to ensure her career and life remained stable without having to worry about romance.

Then Yan Ze came back and they kept bumping into one another at events blah blah blah.

Chen Shen saw Xiao Xiao begin to regress into her old self she saw Yan Ze with another woman, so Chen Shen confessed and she tells him that she knew the entire time but agreed to date him.

Chen Shen and Xiao Xiao were on the way to meet his parents but the radio announced injuries at Yan Ze workplace and Xiao Xiao began to panic and worry so Chen Shen selflessly took her to see him which is just disrespectful in its self.

Over time Chen Shen realised that she is only using him to make Yan Se jealous breaks up with her and regrets it. The stay together only after Chen Shen apologies and they try again.

One of the things Chen Shen did that she never knew was but and rabbinate a bar so that she could drink and be safe. Even named the bar after her but she never knew.

After a few aimless episodes Xiao Xiao leaves Chen Shen in a heartless manor after she realises she only loves Yan Ze.

Yan Ze comes to Chen Shen and complains asking why he hurt Xiao Xiao. Yan Ze proceeds to beat the shit out of Chen Shen and doesn’t fight back as he knows Xiao Xiao loves him. Yan Ze also destroys half the bar in the process.

Xiao Xiao and Yan Ze get back together, kissing in front of Chen Shen at an event. Xiao Xiao finds out Yan Se beat Chen Shen and doesn’t really care which is just madness.

Story ends with Chen Shen crying alone in his bar. His only moral support and backer was the FL. And she goes crazy and dies also.

Sorry for the rant. I had to Watch this shit airing.

Wouldn’t say your wrong but in this case I don’t think it would be censorship as they’re showing off chinas landscape and beauty so cutting it wouldn’t make sense from a propaganda standpoint. Which is why I think it’s far far from that.

The streaming service that it’s on YOUKU have a new (I think) way of airing dramas. Shortening the series to make the viewer not be sat for such a long period of time. I read this in another comment so hope it’s right.

But to me cutting episodes to “help customers / viewers” makes no sense as they have ruined a promising drama by cutting episodes. Essentially ruining the second couple and other parts of the plot

Agreed.

Spoke to someone else about it and I came to the conclusion the ending of the drama we have was a turning point and the cut 13 episodes would have been their rekindling phase but they have ruined it so never mind

Who know they might take those 13 episode and make a special or something. Doubt it but considering the cost of making an episode cutting 13 seems like a waste.

Just posts an episode price breakdown
On Ski into Love Mar 29, 2025
According to google and other sources, the average production cost for a Chinese drama costs:

¥ 1,000,000
$ 871,000
£ 673,121.86

So over the entire UNCUT drama meaning all 36 episode the total would have been:

¥ 36,000,000
$ 31,356,000
£ 24,232,387

The have cut 13 which wastes:

¥ 13,000,000
$ 11,323,000
£ 8,750,584.18

These figures don’t include actor wages

Surely cutting those episode causes the company lose money????

What a beautiful drama and ending

Although the death is painful it’s not one where I’d consider it an unhappy ending as they have loved one another their entire life so it’s a bitter but very sweet ending.

Even in death his wife is the priority is something men should live by and I know I will but for the time being I’m playing the role of Yeong Beom.

The acting is something I believe will win awards. Every episode had the viewers crying and laughing it was something to marvel at.

Don’t really have any other problems with the drama only like two points I didn’t like:

Wish the FL daughter aka Geum Myeong wasn’t played by IU. But I guess that had to to keep viewer retention.

The Yeong Beom ending has me balling my eyes out due to how close to home it hits.

Living the rest of his life knowing the love of his life is with someone else is a harrowing thing to live through.

His mother was the epitome of a selfish parent. Ruining her own child’s entire life due to classism and selfishness.

Yes Yeong Beom could of had a back bone but at the same time in Korea it’s hard for kids to not obey their parents especially during that time period it wasn’t the norm to disobey especially when it comes to marriage.

Now her son has to live his life with a girl he hates.

Watching Yeong Beom see Myeong get married was so painful to watch due to home close to home it hits to me and considering the promise he made to her about seeing her in a wedding dress. One of the only times I wanted the plot to not be realistic 🤣.

Park Bo-Gum all be it not in the last episodes of the drama, had a wonderful performance and once again his eyes show the full emotion of the scene.

Overall a wonderful and endearing drama with sad undertones but an overall warm feeling. 9/10

Also anyone else like the trial of the 4 episodes a week? Loved it made viewing easier and the dramas flow was wonderful

The streaming service Yooku (I think that’s the name) are only wanting dramas within 30 so my guess is that they cut it for that reason.

Could be wrong but that’s a terrible reason to cut episodes as it’s made the drama drop in ratings

They have cut whole episodes

From 36 down to 23 which is a shame

Read else where this affects the second couple too.

Their story is left unrefined and pointless which is a shame as I liked them together

On episode 2 and love their pairing but after reading how the writers and directors handled their pairing makes me want to skip it.

Those episode could have held some amazing drama and fun but for some reason they aren’t showing them.

Loved to have seen their relationship and it’s a shame we can’t see it develop.

Guessing the actors aren’t happy either with the cutting of episodes.

Thanks.

Maybe if they didn’t cut episodes it could have evolved but who knows.

That seems like realistic ending but also disappointing
