There are at least 5 moms here. We have already known Ling Xiao's and Ziqiu's moms so well. The new episodes dwell more into Tan Can's and Mingyue's moms. The daughters still haven't resolved their issues with their moms yet.
As for the girls, Tan Can is having a big fight with Jianjian because Tan Can at the moment has a very low self-esteem of herself. Mingyue has overcome her issues and made up with Jianjian.
Zhuang Bei's screen time is limited but seems about to discover that Mingyue is not his type or vice versa. He has spent a lot of time with Tan Can and he should come to view her differently soon. Tan Can is very favorable with Zhuang Bei's mom, so just waiting for the spark.

If you have lived with someone with depression, you'd understand. This drama really brings out this dark side of the disease so realistically.
He Mei (Ziqiu's mom) is a single mother who is not at all a bad person, but has come from a poor rural family whose mother doesn't value girls (as in many Chinese families especially in the rural areas). She wants to take care of her family but has no earning ability and no education. She does love Ziqiu a lot as shown in Ziqiu early life. I believe she marries a wealthy husband who doesn't know about Ziqiu's existence so she can't come forward to take Ziqiu back without jeopardizing her marriage. You would understand if you have met an unmarried teenage mother. All her actions are just as realistic. The only thing we don't know now is what happens to her marriage. Is her husband still alive or dead or divorced? Why has she hurt Ziqiu like that with her cold and hurtful words? She didn't need to. Let's follow today's episodes and see what exactly has happened :D

As it is, I don't think it will happen; their paths have not crossed at all for Ziqiu and Tan Can. Whereas with Mingyue, she fancies him in high school. Then she's seen him naked. Now, the time is ripe; they just need a spark :D
We can see how Ziqiu and Ling Xiao handle their pains very differently.
When Ziqiu is rejected by his mother a second time, he cries, goes home, hides under his comforter, eats a chocolate holding Jianjian's hand for the whole night, the next morning, he comes out bouncing again in that killer look. On the other hand, Ling Xiao keeps everything to himself. He doesn't talk about his pain. He hides it. He becomes depressed, anxious and sleepless. He needs Jianjian more than Ziqiu does. Only Jianjian can bring him out from his darkness and the writers have already told us so: Jianjian takes him out for a run and he feels much better.
