Yh honestly I would be happy with either one of them, just wish they don't have ugly fights over it
In today's world of social media, yeah, I guess no girls fall in love with boys that they grow up with and living in the same households. But in the old days, and still today in some parts of the world, it does happen commonly. Especially in China where match making is common, those 'aunties' would also try to get the kids together so that they are secured within the families and not 'wasted' out there. Many people do find old shoes more comfortable than new ones :)
he ziqiu lacked a real family for the longest time because he was just a "foster" kid like all the old people…
Right! Husband dies and she comes back to Li Ba so that she can provide a complete family for Zi Qiu. Then at this point, maybe the husband not dead yet, otherwise, I don't understand why she's so heartless towards Zi Qiu and says those hurtful words. If the husband doesn't know the existence of Zi Qiu and she doesn't want to jeopardize her marriage, then I can understand why she doesn't look Zi Qiu up. But if the husband is dead at this point, she still doesn't come forward until he seeks her out, that's really painful.
Does anyone have the spotify playlist for the OST ? I love all of them :( the opening ost makes me sadd
Yes, I love the OSTs and I cry listening to every one of them. The lyrics are so touching. Here's the link to the Spotify album: album/71ycnsCtErHHy5LhhWxrpH Not sure if this would work. Let me know.
I find I can't get worked up about their romance either. I just love watching their scenes together. For me LX…
You took all the words out from my mouth and put them so eloquently. Yes, that's exactly how I would have interpreted the relationships.
The writers have been so brilliant in dropping hints of their relationship ever since the beginning of the story from Episode 1. They have told us again and again that their relationship is very special. At their age when they first meet, they know nothing about romance, but as they come of age, it is very naturally blossom into romance.
For Jianjian, it's almost love at first sight. She's so fond of Ling Xiao despite how he treats her initially, giving her all that cold shoulders, but she never gives up (at 5 years old? Imagine that!). Even as little children, their bond is very special - there's the wedding scene of the 2 kids. As teenagers, Ling Xiao buys her her first bras (can't imagine Ling Xiao tells the shop assistant that he wants to buy some bras for his little sister. I believe he may have said he wants to buy bras for his girl friend, that's more like it). At school, when Jianjian is clinging onto him, he says the school is catching students dating. He tells Jianjian he will marry her. When he leaves for Singapore, he tells her when he comes back, they'll be together forever, never be separated again. All these seemingly innocent remarks, are all hints from the writers that Ling Xiao treats Jianjian as a girl friend, not a real little sister per se. His love for Jianjian, holding her face in his palms, gently looking at her and kissing her, is just so endearing and he's been doing this quite a lot since little. For me, Ling Xiao has been very open about his love for Jianjian despite he's being such a reserved person.
Both fathers know their special relationship. They always inform either kids whatever being transpired between them. Even when Ling Ba forgets to tell Jianjian Ling Xiao is back, it's such a big fuss and Li Ba's pissed with Ling Ba for failing his duty (he takes away the wine).
I hope viewers notice all these little details and not come to condemn this beautiful story because they feel the kids' relationship has changed from platonic to romantic. That's definitely not the case.

If the mother is already married with a wealthy husband and has a son with him, I don't see why she wants to give that up to marry Li Ba, unless she loves him. She has explained to Zi Qiu why she hadn't married Li Ba in the first place - because she has no love for Li Ba.
I love the romance because Ling Xiao hasn't hidden it at all all these years; it's just so subtle in everything he does for Jianjian. Jianjian always sits in between the boys but leans on Ling Xiao. Among other things, that shows Ling Xiao's and Jianjian's relationship is very different from an ordinary brother/sister relationship despite she calls him ge, and he tells people she's his little sister. Both fathers know they are for each other, more than simply a platonic relationship, and that's why Li Ba doesn't encourage (nor discourage) Zi Qiu to go for it when he (Zi Qiu) consults him.
I find their romance so pure and beautiful and not at all incestuous. It is such a pity that some viewers feel this romance offending and opt to drop the drama or give it a very low rating. Hopefully by the end of the drama, viewers come to appreciate the intricacies of the relationship and approve of it.

Absolutely! He just wants to formalize their relationship through marriage. I believe he would later realize and understand the meaning of what his mother has told him why she hasn't married Li Hai Chao.
Honestly, I've started this drama because of Song Wei Long (aka Ling Xiao) originally, but as episodes go by,…
For Zi Qiu, he has no idea what having a girl friend is all about. In the later episodes, you'd see he messes around just like a brother with a little sister. It's hilarious. How he treats Jianjian is totally different from how Ling Xiao treats her. Ling Xiao would hold Jianjian in his hands, fearing of breaking her; Zi Qiu would have crazy fights with her with choke holds etc.
Aunties they are the reason i stopped walking out of my house
These aunties can really ruin life if you take their words seriously. Being a nasty mouth I have, I can't help myself but rebut them all the time, so every time we have fights. I think they hate me, not that I care. :D
Lol there's something i wanna rant about. Does anyone else feel annoyed by all the elder ladies walking up to…
Then consider yourself lucky for not living in such a society. This is a very typical closely knitted community; everyone knows everyone. Privacy is a luxury not many can enjoy. This drama is so good because it's portraying everything as in real life - there are indeed a lot of annoying know-it-all aunties :D
I can accept LX's love cause its always been there and i already have a hard time being okay with JJ potentially…
Guarantee that there won't be a love triangle. Ziqiu just needs to figure things out. Give him time. He's very immature in this. He would remember and understand what his mother tells him once, and the reasons for not marrying Li Ba. He will figure it out eventually. Don't worry.
