No, it's not his imagination. We've been taking it all wrong when we see Lige looking conflicted and drinking wine. That's not poisonous wine, just regularly wine as she likes to drink. Viewers tend to jump into conclusions here and hence think she dies. After the wine, she decides to leave, taking her chime with her (it's a promise she has with her husband). That's why when her husband gets there, she's gone with the chime. She decides to leave because she doesn't want her husband to give up everything that he has been fighting for all his life, just to run away with her to save her. Also she doesn't want her father and brother to die in vain as they have been fighting for the reforms too.

Liu Yikang is not the Emperor, his older brother is. He is a regent, executing all the important government matters and he doesn't resign from his post. He is still there doing what he's been doing - reforming the system.

3 years later, his reforms are almost completed. Once everything is taken care of, he can leave everything behind and go join his wive. Historically in real life, he was demoted to a commoner.

He started taking the pills when he was in Singapore, presumably he was under a lot of stress - missing Jianjian and his family at home, taking care of his then paralyzed mother, school work etc. He claims the scar is self-inflicted when he spilled hot soup onto himself. We'll wait and see what actually happened.

There's definitely no love triangle between the three because it's obvious that Ziqiu's love is platonic. Just that the writers make it very subtle and at times cryptic to tease the viewers.

Not at all, there's no rivalry, bantering/bickering maybe which is really fun to watch. Ziqiu's fear is always being frightened of no one wants him anymore. He's scared that his precious family may disappear one day. Ziqiu understands and accepts his position in the family. He's very grateful. To me, that look of him when Ling Xiao and Jianjian are interacting, is a look of satisfaction and happiness. He has that look since he was first brought into the family. That time, Jianjian was nasty to him and nice to Ling Xiao. He never complains but appreciates what he's getting. He's the one silently protecting the family behind the scene. That's why the Ziqiu's character catches all our hearts.

Everything you say about the middle children spots on the Ziqiu character. You'll see how he develops when the story unfolds. Steven is good and adorable. Makes me cry a lot too.

You're so right because everyone reacts differently. I bet you're not that clinging on to your brother nor sleeping with him on the same bed either. Jianjian is very different. She's inseparable from her brothers. They do everything together (I bet they may have even bathed together when they were little - it's very common in East Asia for kids to bath together). I can understand why Jianjian so attached to her brothers - she lost her mother and she was almost alone with her father. So when the brothers came into her life, they became her world.

Pretty sure he does. Don't worry. He's resilient; he's a fighter.

Doesn't Mingyue's mom remind you of your own parents or relatives? She does to me. Many seemingly harmless remarks can be very hurtful. Some meant-well remarks are even worse. The tone and the insinuation of everything we say is so important. That's why this drama is so good because many people can relate to it so well.

She was devastated when they left 9 years ago without consulting with her their decisions. They just left. She was very broken. Then she had an epiphany: they're not real brothers and sister. The brothers are going to grow up and one day married with their own families. Sooner or later they would be gone. So to protect herself from heartaches and disappointment again, she chooses to alienate them. But understandably, the brothers try to make up to her when they return. She tries to keep them at a distance but they keep popping up everywhere, so much so that she gets annoyed and scolds them. To me, this is very relatable, because when one tries to put up a wall, and fearing the wall may crumble, that's the reaction one would exhibit. What do you think?

Don't worry about the tears. Many of us cry in almost every episode XD. The writers are really good in catching our tears.

Yes, it looks like there'll be three pairs: Jianjian/Ling Xiao, Ziqiu/Mingyue and Tang Can/gorilla (forgot his name). It's going to be fun - six youngsters living in proximity to each other. There'd be a lot of spying, stalking and fun stuff. Can't wait!

Tang Can's acting career fell through. So now she's only doing some odd jobs here and there, hardly making ends meet and Jianjian has been subsidizing her. Occasionally she gets calls to pretend (act) as anything. The example here shown that she was commissioned to act as a child's mother for the school. Some schools, especially those very hard-to-get-in type scrutinize the background of the children. If a parent is divorced or something, they would not admit the child. So Tang Can fills in as the parent of that kid to cheat the school.

It's ok, at least this is better than what we fear earlier - Zi Qiu likes Jianjian who likes Ling Xiao who likes Jianjian. As long as the trio is intact, I'm ok with everything else :)
