She (the mom) is also partially responsible for the deaths as she's tricked by Leqing. Someone has to discover how Leqing has imitated the handwriting and tricked the father and son to the meeting location. Only the mom knows. She may snap out from her current incomprehensiveness and becomes a lunatic and starts screaming and stabbing Leqing a thousand times. That would be savage but satisfying for the vengence. Boy! We're doing all the thinking for the writer(s).

I like Han Shu Min's character too because despite being a noble lady and a sister of the bully brother Han Zhi Sheng, she's kind and accommodative. Though she's well read, she's not very fast witted. Even her maid can think faster and reason things better than her. I just hope she eventually drops her obsessiveness over Feng Cheng Jun and becomes an advocate for women's rights as her words have more weights because she has a powerful father.

I can see why the director wants a small petite girl to play this role. He (the director) even picked some of the tallest actors to play the boys to make her look even smaller. It is her small weakling appearance that stirs up the protective instinct in the boys who come to her rescue in a split of the second. It is our human nature to feel more compassionate towards a weaker comrade. Had she been a tall athletic girl who can wrestle with the boys and win, I think that protective instinct would not have been there. The effect we're seeing now will be gone.

That's exactly the qualities the boys love. Don't you see they're all attracted to her unknowingly?

That was a tumultuous time in Chinese history. Parricides, filicides and fratricides were rampant. Hard to imagine our beloved hero here, Peng Cheng Wang, eventually dies of a stupid excuse from his own trusted and loved brother. But at the same time, it is also satisfying that the Emperor was himself eventually assassinated by his own son. This is karma.

Yes, I agree with you on the evil-doers, especially Shen Leqing. The logic is so flaw. How could she scheme to kill her own family who has showered her with love and kindness, for the sake of getting her man back. Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'll just have to watch it assuming there're really such low level people who would do anything to achieve their goals albeit their goals are seemingly worthless to us.

It's funny how our chemistry works. Even though everyone thinks she's a boy, unconsciously they're all attracted to her. Perhaps men usually have that 'protective' instinct so when they see a weakling like Wen Bin, small and skinny, their protective instinct kicks in.

At Episode 42, just her big brother and father have been killed (very gruesome). Her mom is having a mental breakdown so not cohesive. I dread when or if she comes round to it, she'd be able to accept the fact of their demise, and if she'd kill herself. This is yet to see.

Yeah, looks like this mysterious mastermind is just going to be a very shallow character.
