I watched the first episode of “The Untamed” and there were a lot of people that were turned into or taken…
Be patient. Just watch it. Guarantee you'll like it. It can be confusing initially, and you may need to re-watch later on. The story actually starts at the end of episode 2.
That means you may not have watched "The Untamed". If you have, I'd be interested to know what you think.
After you have watched "The Untamed", I'm pretty confident that you would switch your BEST historical Cdrama list. Even though it's not a romance like "Love Better Than Immortality", it is very good. If we have more dramas like "The Untamed", I don't think I want to watch romances anymore; most of the time I just get frustrated with the boy-girl relationship and trivial misunderstandings.
I'm re-watching this drama. The more I watch, the more I fall in love with the Wei Wu Xian character. He's so mischievous and adorable. Simply love him and Xiao Zhan is awesome in that role. Lan Wang Ji is Wang YiBo and vice versa because whether on-screen or off-screen, YiBo is always looking cold cool; he simply has that look on his face all the time. I have to commend the directors for their vision and brilliant selection of the actors. They are really producing legends. Let's not forget the music composers also. The music in this drama is one of the best I've ever heard. Kudos to all.
Up to episode 10 now, I'm thinking of dropping it. "Bromance" is mediocre compared to Guardian, the martial arts…
I would say, try not to watch for only the story, but also watch for the development of the relationship between Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji. It's subtle, discrete, and beautiful. Together, their opposite personalities and styles seem totally not in the same world, and yet, they are so beautiful together visually. Just watching their moments together going through hardship and sacrificing for each other, is enough to make you fall for them.
They skirted very closely around the censorship laws, and even though they couldn't be explicit about their relationship,…
Love your breakdown of every moment. Yes, this is definitely done so discretely and tastefully to include viewing from all. The looking into each other's eyes tells a lot of their hidden admiration for each other. Transforming this admiration into a 知己 relationship for a greater general public is simply brilliant, and the show doesn't lose its draw.
The setting is epic (ie. warfare) The story is lacking (going round and round, yawn!) The romance is almost zero (I don't feel I'm in love with anyone, except perhaps with Ying Wu Yi aka Li Gong)
And I don't like warfare. Too much bloodshed. Too scary to see those zombie soldiers.
I think so far Liu Hao Ran’s leading ladies are all very annoying. I usually always like them in the beginning…
I do agree with you that Liu Hao Ran's performance is confusing - he seems to have the same expression throughout, that is frowning and being uncertain.
I haven’t watched it, but you can see on the bts yibo the one who usually start the playful fight first. He…
Yep, YiBo is like a playful kid, jumping around, fighting to be the first in everything, putting up his hands to answer all the teachers' questions even when he doesn't know the answers (but he almost always gets the answers right; he's super intelligent).
If you have seen the latest episode of the "Happy Camp" show featuring Xiao Zhan and Wang YiBo, you'd find the totally opposite on-screen and off-screen personalities of these two talented actors. On-screen, Xiao Zhan is warm, playful and fun, whereas Wang YiBo is solemn and cold. But off-screen, Wang YiBo is crazy! He's the first in everything, totally shattering his on-screen image as in Lan Wang Ji. YiBo is playful, talkative, and super active, whereas Xiao Zhan is mellow and quiet. I love these two actors!
For me in this drama, it's the 'soul-mates' relationship that is truly awesome. Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji know exactly what each other is thinking and feeling by just looking into each other's eyes. They can read each other's mind. It's better than many boy-girl romances where there are tons of misunderstanding, frustrating the viewers. There is nothing 'gay' about this drama. It's just BFF like we have with our own BFF. A must-watch for those who want a feel-good drama. If you're still hesitating in wetting your feet, come on, take some risks. I don't think you would regret it.
If you are hesistant to watch this because you want it to be more BL than it is, PLEASE give it a try anyways!…
