I will refuse to watch any Chinese dramas that take an original novel that was a BL novel and turn it into, at…
I haven't read the novel so cannot comment how this drama may have mutilated the original story. However, I must admit I like this drama.
I 100% agree with you on the part of China censoring the creative arts, making everything propaganda. It's so sad. China can produce world quality movies and dramas with their amazingly talented actors, both male and female. It's just too bad that this quality maybe buried and unappreciated.
I personally love Chinese historical dramas. I'll be so disappointed when they one day ban such dramas. It's really going to be a lost culture.
Just watched episode 34. Ling Xi is in the common realm and forgets everything about Jiu Chen. Comes Jing Xiu. I don't know if she is falling in love with him, but pretty sure he is for her.
For a person who has not read the novel nor watched the anime, this drama could be a bit confusing in the beginning especially with the editing. The zombies are not that convincing either. However, having said that, I'm totally drawn in by the story; it is very entertaining. I'm also unabashed to say that I'm attracted to the beautiful men. Their faces, hair, clothing, style, everything is so surreal as if I'm watching an anime instead of life person acting. I love to see the duo, Wei Wu Xian and Lan Zhan, one in black and the other in white; one blowing the flute and the other holding a sword or playing the guqin. The visual and images are simply so beautiful as if they were drawn on paper.
I normally shy away from bromance dramas. But this one is exceptional. It doesn't feel cringey. The love and respect between the duo is immeasurable and sweet. They feel more like soul mates for each other.
Anybody knows where I can find the Mandarin version of this song 海阔天空 sung repeatedly in the drama? I can only find the Cantonese version on Spotify and YouTube. Love to hear it in Mandarin.
Nah, don't think so. Their attraction to each other doesn't feel like sexual but more like brotherly or very very good friends (not that I know how gays are like). They just adore and respect each other very much. To me, it feels like pure and real friendship.

Must watch. Love it!
