Guess the other drama with a very well-followed actor comes on air, and the fans try to push this one down to bring that one up. At the moment, that drama receives a lot of criticisms. Nonetheless for this drama, having a score of 8.0 on Douban may mean a 9 or 9.5 on MDL, so I wouldn't be too bothered by the current score here :)

I think you may be right, that it's not my style. I believe it's also not for many people. Expect the rating to fall further. Even Hedi can't save it.

That said drama of Yang Mi gets only 5.8 on Douban, much lower score than many other dramas with little known actors. Rule of thumb: if you enjoy the drama, go ahead and give it a high rating no matter what others say. If you don't enjoy it, give it a low rating all you want. In the end, the truth will prevail.

Woah! You cannot call people bad apples for giving low rating. That's too extreme :)

Yes, you say my words. That's how I feel about Yukee (lack of charisma) and how I watch dramas too - for the story, the characters and plots, and not for the actors.

I'm having problem right from the start. Killing of the concubines is supposed to be sad, serious and somber. And yet, it is made into a comedy. The FL almost dies but she acts as if that's not a big deal. I just cannot wrap my mind around this - what is going on? Luckily now the genre of this drama says it's a comedy, so I can take it that everything is just a joke, but it's not even funny.

Right (from your comments)! If the production wants to go that route and make it into a dark comedy, I wouldn't mind. This drama was not labeled as a comedy initially, so I took it as a serious type of drama and what I saw so far is so "dog blood".

Even the sweetest Lo Han Guo also doesn't help. The romance feels so "forced".

Now with the new "comedy" genre, I can take this series less seriously despite all the deaths.

I'm reading all these nice comments, and wondering why I don't feel the same. Perhaps it's the shitty script writing I'm having problem with. I'm trying to give this a chance and suppressing my impatience. Let's hope the later episodes improve.

I don't read comments from other platforms, only on MDL. Interesting to see how others view this drama. I just feel something is not right.

Honestly speaking, the FL character really confuses me. We know she's very intelligent, but acts foolish to fool others. But the acting is confusing and inconsistent, and I find Yukee overacts.
