"Love, so one sacrifices especially if one is dying", yeah, I can't swallow that logic too but it appears in most Chinese romance dramas. For me, time together is so precious. So lovers should treasure all the limited time together, loving each other, instead of wasting time in the sacrifices. Imagine if someone you love so much, goes behind your back and sacrifice himself/herself. By the time you find out, he/she is already gone. I'd be so mad and regretful for the rest of my life. Love should be mutual, not just for one side to sacrifice and the other to enjoy life fully. Just doesn't make sense to me. And this logic even applies to contemporary dramas, not just ancient ones.

The first episode is very obvious that the voice is not done by a voice actor, but later episodes get better. Yes, GJ's voice is very nice, just that we're all so used to voice actors' perfect recordings that slight deviation sounds very obvious :)

Yes, it's really an unfortunate outcome. But remember, no one knew what was happening at that time. Everyone just assumed that Xiao Jian had turned bad, they only saw the surface. His ending inspired this story because everyone then came to realize what he'd done for them. It's a sad but very inspiring story.

It can be hard to understand, especially with the characters if you don't know Mandarin very well. Even with native speakers, it can still be confusing. Nonetheless, it's quite an interesting watch if you love "eternal love" type of story.
