It's the Killing Song, hahahah! Yeah, it's so hard to find, but it's actually available on Spotify. I don't remember the exact name, but you can find my Ever Night season 1 playlist there, and the song will be included in the list.

Yes the romance area I believe was not explored because both were in the puppy love phase. Also look at Fu Zi…
I personally feel their romantic chemistry is off the chart. The quick peck on the lips and that stolen kiss in the kitchen were enough to send butterflies to my stomach and make me fluster like a schoolgirl, hahahah! In the end, it all comes down to our personal preferences :)

I kinda wish there were 2 or 3 episodes about their maturing process during the one year separation, in which Bai Jiaojiao's visit to the restaurant happens in one of those episodes, and not near the end. It just feels like everyone's trying to deliver a message from Zeyu to Fu Zi. Xin Ling's role also feels forced, because I can't reason why she would try to reunite them. If I were the scriptwriter, I'd rather have Gu Dapeng's new girlfriend doing that instead of Xin Ling. To me it makes so much more sense that she has more sentimental reason to do that rather than Xn Ling, because of Gu Dapeng's bond with Fu Fangsheng.

The last episode is a bit rushed, but the ending is beautifully written and shot. Apart from the breakup scene, this is another powerful scene by Sandra and Deng Lun. Words are indeed not necessary as they converse with their eyes. He knows she's forgiven him. He assures her that no, he's not giving up his dream for her, but he's now in control in how to pursue it. They are both stronger people now. They need each other but are no longer too dependent on each other. This means they can support each other better and I think it's perfect!

Finished this series. I was hoping that Hao Zeyu would have made some small progressive efforts to win Fu back…
Glad to read they have a happy ending! But where did you see the last episode? Is it VIP online? I thought the finale will be aired today at 8 pm China time.

I just saw 44 raw and that obviously is not the last episode. Seems like the info here is wrong about the number…
That depends on the version. Does the one you saw have parts of ep 43 YouTube version? If so, yeah, probably that one will have 45 episodes. But I believe the YouTube version will have 44 episodes.

I'm up to 43 raw and pretty much like you do a re-watch when subs are out as the proverbial nuances are hard to…
I agree with you on Hao Zeyu. He's not happy that he has to take the idol route to get acting roles, and they only widen the gap between him and his newfound family. Whenever he's on the promotional project, he will either be absentminded or even scornful.

I finally saw episode 43 -- my heart! The breakup scene is particularly heartbreaking and WELL DONE. Ma Sichun and Deng Lun's raw emotions, their microexpressions (shaking mouths and hands), all the unsaid feelings and unspeakable words... the acting is SO GOOD. Ma Sichun has always been my bias since The Left Ear, and she's collected enough accolades to prove her talent. I've only seen Deng Lun in Princess Agent, but he only had several episodes there and I'm one of the 5 people in the world who haven't seen Ashes of Love. I must say I'm very impressed with his portrayal of Hao Zeyu. I wish both of them will get industry recognition for their performance in this drama.

It looks like I'm quite ahead in watching, as I'm already up to ep 42 on YouTube. At one point I wanted to slow down because I'm not ready to bid farewell to the show, but I couldn't help myself, LOL. Everytime new subbed episodes are up, I just had to watch them at one go! All I can say is things are bleak in the latest episodes :(. I normally hate it when scriptwriters seem to drag on the dog-blood scenes (and I tend to ff them), but the dialogues are so good in this drama and the actors deliver with top-notch acting. I watched some episodes raw but I'd eventually rewatch them because the dialogues provide the context and make so much sense of the situation and the psychology of the characters. At the moment Bai Jiaojiao's agent is the one I really dislike, but all her actions are logical and in line with the character. She won't be a top agent at a relatively young age (per the drama) if she's not persistent, steel-hearted, and push aside her personal life.

Yesssss! I've peeked into ep 33 (but the site where I watched has ep 33 which contains some parts of ep 32, so I'm not sure which version Viki will show), and those two are the cutest thing! You can imagine, two grown adults who just have their first love!

Yes, I remember that scene when he told Fu Zi to take a look at the moon! (I don't remember about confirming if Xiao Bai likes Fu Zi, though, I thought they all knew Xiao Biao is close with Niu Meili?)

Though in general this show receives very positive feedback, I've also read a lot of comments calling it very slow and boring. I agree it may feel flat at times, but it's a slice-of-life kind of show. What makes the show stands out for me is the characters are grounded, and the conflicts are relatable. The characters act with logic (IMO) in accordance with their mindset, and the antagonists are not evil incarnate. I can feel there will be a new, bigger tension coming up (I've watched until ep 29 -- thank God the subbing is superfast!) and I think it's to be expected. I can't wait to see how this family of four will cope with that!

The skin product gift is definitely product placement, which the drama isn't short of, LOL. You must've also noticed the canned drink, and some other that are less frequently displayed, such the furniture store, etc. But I agree with you that he sees Bai Jiaojiao as a mentor.

Before around episode 13 the show was mostly plot-driven, but afterward it gets more and more character-driven,…
@RSMasterfade that's how I feel about the series too. Personally I like it that it moves towards characters-driven style although the plot is still intriguing. I'm eager to know everyone's motivation. It will be a great twist if it turns out that a dead character is actually still alive and has been the puppetmaster of the whole saga :D.

The Emperor's speech on episode 41!!!
The tone is strange though. It's either bad writing, or he's the biggest hypocrite of them all. It doesn't make sense it all, after what he says earlier -- being a great emperor, the Tian Bao is much better than that of the previous dynasty's, etc.

It looks like I'm the only who sort of likes his character. Historical accuracy aside, I like a foreign sidekick…
I don't think so, unless China produced a Marcopolo movie/drama that I'm not aware of. He's a Chinese actor of Uyghur descent, has mostly been on stage rather than movie/TV show, and a graduate of the highly prestigious Central Academy of Drama.
