Have you compared him to all the other actors on the list and their respective works?
Good for Wang Yibo, and I'm glad you love his acting in the Untamed. As for why Arthur Chen's on the list, I saw that the author has responded to you.
I've watched Arthur in LoA, Ever Night, and in his movies: My Best Summer and My People, My Country. In my opinion he improves with every project. LoA might be bashed, but the general view from those who had seen him in Ever Night is his acting improved and matured a lot, and his line delivery got better too. By the way, he always dubs himself in each of his drama/movie. In My People, My Country he has to speak his dialogues in Inner Mongolian accent. Except for My Best Summer, all his other dramas and movies required him to shoot in less desirable environment (hot deserts, below zero temperature lake) and/or doing plenty of demanding physical activities.
So while his parents might have helped him, all I see is a dedicated young actor, who's very serious and willing to take the extra miles about his craft.
I'd add Zhang Xincheng to this list. He might not be as highkey as the majority of people on this list but he's…
Seconding adding Zhang Xincheng too. I think in addition to Skate into Love, his other representative works are My Huckleberry Friends and Young Blood, both of which got really good reviews (each rated > 8 on Douban!)
Where do you all watched episodes 33-48?? Isn't it aired up to ep 32 (for VIPs)?? Were the rest of the episodes…
IQiyi had released the rest of the episodes to (my guess) VIP members in China. Unfortunately it's not the same case for those outside of China. But yeah, you could watch them raw in other streaming sites like some have suggested here.
I agree, you can even add some more, like a one-dimensional villain(s).And you know, they work for this drama!…
Well, I admit it got quite draggy in the middle, but somewhere in the 30-ish show picks up again. Still if you don't feel like it, you don't need to force yourself. I personally like the drama, but to each their own :)
How is this rated an 8.9 when everyone in the comments seems to be disliking it ? Is it that bad ? Should I watch…
Those who dislike it make comments here. Those who like it are not that vocal but just rate it right away, and seem to constitute the majority. Perhaps you just check yourself to see if it suits your taste?
I don't understand why Arthur Chen chose this TV series instead of EverNight S2! The storyline is floating, the…
This drama works better without the romance, but I can enjoy small doses of it. This said, I still can't get myself into the main pairing. Somehow the romantic lines of the secondary characters (Mo Lin-Su Tang, Yan Xifan - Li Ziyan) are much better written and the actors have better chemistry too.
I swear this show is seeing how many tropes it can fit in a seriesevil twin checkself sacrificing best friend…

And you know, they work for this drama! This is a show that doesn't take itself seriously, it also often feels caricaturish & juvenile. But surprisingly the dialogues are quite well-written, witty with self-deprecating humors and sometimes references to modern era.
At the same time it's a nod to old-school wuxia series/movies, with quirky shifus, transferable inner energy, blood vomiting, sects with their own moves & weapons.
The show doesn't require you to use your brain, just enjoy the ride :)). This said, I'm happy that the drama has a plot! It also moves pretty fast, with just a small amount of fillers.
Guys, I heard this is doing good in China. Does it have high view count? How are the ratings?
View count wise, it's doing pretty well. It started at rank 7, climbed to rank 2, and has been on top of Vlinkage chart two days in a row. If I remember correctly, it's accumulated more than 200 million views.
As for rating, last time I check Douban has yet to rate it.
Ahhhh She was a gymnast... Now I that explains why she looks short and stocky. She has a mesomorph body type.
She's dubbed by a professional voice actor. So for line delivery she can't be faulted. I think among the main cast only Arthur & Enxi who dubbed their characters.
I love her but this is also why I almost can't continue watching...I just feel so bad that the emperor won't be…
LOL, folks, calm down :))). I'm not on either team.
TBH, I'm shipping the Emperor with Miao Xinhe. There's something about this childhood-friends-turn-spouses that draws me in. I like that they have both platonic and slightly romantic relationship, and in this drama -- at least so far -- is the healthiest compared to his relationships with Cao Danshu & Zhang Binhe.

Since the characters are based on real historical figures, I don't think they could improvise the story too far, no? Multiple sources say the Emperor's favorite was indeed Concubine Zhang (aka the dancer lady), and even tried to make her an Empress.

I found it quite helpful when starting the drama.
