I will try to give my read on this and other questions below at one go here:Qingci's whole strategy is divide…
Thank you so much for the details. The YT translation hasn't gone that far, but I'm excited to watch the episodes once the subs are available. Even with plotholes and the romance arcs somewhat derailing the story, I still think this is very well-written drama. Zuo Qingci is probably one of the best written young MLs in recent years.
Oh of course it is signature Mei Changsu... no other character has the right to copy it IMHO!!! Our lead in this…
Speaking of the ML costume/styling, I love the salt & pepper color they give to his sickly hair, instead of full white like often showed in other wuxia dramas. Much more realistic.
Oh no... I heard that this was the most highest costume drama of 2020 and came to check out but now I am not so…
Huh? Some maybe complain about latest episodes here, but it doesn't mean it's a bad show. Overall it's still great. The douban rating is 8.3, which yes, it still is the highest rated costume drama in 2020.

"... the way they portray him kind of hilarious because a lot of what he does is how the typical FL usually behaves" ================= Right??? This is also how I see it, the reverse gender trope -- and I like that aspect! :)

OMG, thank you so much! Now I understand the context of her wedding in the later episodes. She's waiting for WSY but he doesn't show up. She must think he's stood her up. Her insistence of him calling her Mu Furen... ahhh!! But who was she mourning for? Who died?
Finally, all caught up! Oh wow, I have quite a few things to say.1. Why does everyone have a secret identity?…
I agree with you that Qingci - Yunluo relationship is quite problematic, and in contrast the development between Wen Siyuan & Shen Manqing is awesome. I was watching raw from ep 19 to 30, so there's a huge load of things that I missed or misunderstood. Which episode did Siyuan propose to Manqing? I only remember him taking her out the night before her wedding day.
However, I have a different view ie I can understand where Qingci & Yunluo came from. They are still kids with baggage. He feels betrayed and rejected by his father, and was somehow fixated to the little girl who wanted him alive. He had imagined what Su Yunluo was going to be based on his childhood memories, which is most likely colored by his own perception and aspiration. He never thought that she'd grow up and be a person that doesn't fit his imagination.
On the other hand, Yunluo also never had a proper childhood. At least up to latest episode, all we know about her is she was a street kid until Su Xuan took her under his wings and became a father figure and practically her whole world. Her feelings toward Qingci is a mixture of gratefulness for things he's done for her, closeness deriving from being in life-and-death situations together, and of course attraction from teen hormonal lol.
I'm actually liking the way their relationship is written because it's quite realistic. These are two young people growing up in and through the dynamics of their relationship. That wedding was of course not a mature decision, so it's good that the drama points that out, and cancels it by way of bipolar Zhu Yan :D. I'm looking forward to next episodes to see how these two will handle it.
Dang. If that's the case, either it's a plothole because why didn't Wen Siyuan detect it, or he already knew but just wanted to take advantage, or he's an ally of the emperor.
You mean subbed in Indonesian, Vietnamese or Thai right? 'Cause I don't think there are any episodes subbed in…
Yes, it's said that it's subbed in Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai. BUT, please click auto-translate, then you choose English... voila! There will be English sub, and it's pretty decent. Be aware that this can only be done if you watch it on PC. Unfortunately it's not working on mobile phone.
