- Did LZW find out about time travel, and how to do it, from HYX when she's in CYR's body? Then HYX's first time travel was also facilitated by LZW, by sending her the walkman & Wu Bai's cassette -- so it's an infinite loop? There seems to be no starting point of the whole time travels.
- Why could this continuous cycle of time travels be stopped only by burning one particular cassette of WuBai? But there's still another copy kept by HYX, right? If Xie Zhi Qi could get hold of that other one, wouldn't he be able to use it to accomplish his plan?
I've watched the series twice, the second modern drama and first TW's one I became obsessed with. (I'm a hardcore historical Cdrama junkie). But even after the second watch, some questions are still lingering.
Oh my god..You guys are solely looking at the drama as if it was not based on a novel! Read the novel first! From…
I guess that comes down to how one interprets the novel? Some think that the change of mannerism (not just the change of actor) is to show Ning Que's growth. The thing is, growth doesn't mean a complete change of personality, which is why to many Ning Que in S2 feels like a different person. Not just Ning Que but also some of the important characters. And regarding his relationship with Sang Sang, I'll copy someone's tumblr on a separate post (because I agree with him/her).
In season 1, Ning Que was protective of Sang Sang, but you can feel it's a platonic master/servant type of relationship…
The reason NQ tells SS to do all chores is to keep her warm (and I think it's established that it's their mutual understanding), since SS has a condition that often makes her cold. (The condition is later explained in S2). That's also why he makes her drink wine since childhood.
For a start, all historical Chinese dramas require actors to speak the Standard Mandarin. Dylan Wang has strong Sichuan accent, and it's very likely by the time the actors were recording their dialogues his Mandarin was considered as not having met the standard yet, so the production decided to hire a voice actor for him. When the first trailer (teaser?) was released using his natural accent, he was highly criticized too. Dubbing is a very common practice in Chinese production. Can someone tell me which dynasty is shown in this drama?
If I remember correctly, this is set in a totally fictional universe and dynasty. But they picked elements from different dynasties, mostly Song and Tang.
I think by Eps 33-34, most people can guess Uncle Wu's identity, especially after the previous two episodes away…
I've read speculations about Uncle Wu's real entity (unless it's the same with the novel and readers have spoiled it!). So he's the Data of JOL universe, eh? :)
Enjoying the series very much, and amused to see a lot of parallels with Ever Night. So not surprising, since they came from the same author. Mao Ni certainly likes writing quirky characters and certain themes, doesn't he? So much tongue-in-cheek, question about authorities, The Power That Be who plans and watches everything, and of course: ordinary people matter. Mao Ni is lucky that his novels are adapted by good production teams!
Yes! But it made no difference. Previously, Tuesday(3) and Wednesday(3) 6 episodes per week. Now, Monday(2), Tuesday(2),…
There are a few videos posted all marked private (including ep 4 which was previously shown for public). You can watch them on Viki, though by the time I write this Viki has subbed only up to ep 5 (ep 6 & 7 have been uploaded there as well, still unsubbed)

Huh? Did I make any comparison to XZ? I was responding to some of Alice's statement. Let's see: - She says: "No star started their career at age 26-28, that age is already considered OLD,.. etc.". I said: Although in the minority, there are stars who started late, and there are also the late bloomers, who started young but didn't get their breakthrough. It doesn't matter if you're super talented -- it's often about opportunities. - She says: "I think you don't know much about China entertainment world, or else you would not talk like this lol.". I said: Lilly does know her facts about Chinese entertainment, since she's been watching Chinese movies and dramas since the 80's -- have you been born yet? I know this because I've been interacting with her in other drama forums on MDL, and following her Facebook page.

Although in the minority, there are stars who started late. There are also late bloomers, like Zhu Yilong, who got his breakthrough after acting for more than a decade.
PS. I think Lilly knows some facts about China entertainment since she's been blogging about Chinese movies and dramas for quite long.
