I feel you. Ep 3 and I'm already annoyed. I've seen the whole Donghua and there are too many important differences…
Thank you for the detailed background. I actually picked this one to watch because it was Xuanhuan/xianxia and it didn't have any romance tags. So I was pleasantly surprised and was like, wow, because I actually wish there would be xianxias without romance being the main plot.
Here, there is romance but that is not the main story. and since I haven't watched the Donghua I am not disliking this drama. However, I think the A Lan romantic angle was unneeded. It was just put there just to please some fans, it seems.
I do wish that there were live actions that could simply just imply romance without it having to be shown and made part of the plot/story.
Thank you again for the details and explanation. I really appreciate it.
I finished episode 14, and I just have to vent on that episode. What is the need to make everything romantic? I don't understand, or at least it doesn't need to be straight up confirmed, could've been left ambiguous. Is there some fan pressure that makes them feel unfulfilled if their leads don't have a rival which loses/not even considered and so it is a 'win' for their favorite lead?
A characterization diminished because show writers/makers couldn't just help themselves to make the motivation romantic.
Finished episode 3. I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be interpreted, but the princess comes off as a psychopath last season and this season. She should know to be discreet, but isn't and is likely to to endanger LLF. I don't really feel sympathy for her situation.
Finally finished the first season. Tbh, there were two characters I wish were done differently: Pei Xi Jun (I…
Xue Huan's high voice combined with his cadence is kind of annoying. It was especially annoying in his first episodes because of the way he loudly judged and was arrogant to LLF just because LLF didn't want to meet up with PXJ.
As the character got less annoying, his voice became more tolerable, but one is still reminded of it.
Watched this a long time ago, but if you are talking about the gangster, no--the gangster ended up disappearing…
He ends up finishing his time on earth and disappearing/ascending. The FL kind of realizes, understands that it's her husband, but knows it cannot be spoken out loud.
Have watched six episodes. Will continue. But Pei Ji Xun is the one drawback. During episode 5, I thought I would be fine with her. But then in episode 6, I found her very annoying. Why push and forced these awkward romantic plots in dramas such as this?
She is instrumental in solving some cases in the future so yes she has to be in. This is not a romance oriented…
100 percent agree. I have finished ep 6, and she is the one flaw in the drama for me. During episode 5, I thought she would stop being annoying but now I see I'll have to endure her for the whole series and seasons.
As you said these dramas don't need to throw in random romances, and this one is annoying.
Very good drama. Two characters were lazy and could've been better written, developed, imo: JLQ and XZJ.
It really isn't an open ending. In fact, episode 40 is more "open" than the special episode which I think is pretty obvious on the outcome. Also, the story and character progression has always been leading to it. That vibe is there throughout. Closure is important as shown within the drama, hence I think the special ending was needed for the characters and probably for the viewers as well.
I usually do find so-called 'open endings' cowardly, but here I personally don't really find it open-ended. But I suppose they did take an easy way out and chose not to take away from those who want to believe.
i know everyone says its an open ending, but i personally feel like that ending implied that he died. either way,…
It is definitely showing his content spirit post death and perhaps pre-afterlife-journey. In some ways I think C Dramas and maybe Dramas in general these days don't have the courage to make it absolutely clear, and wish they actually wouldn't be so cowardly. But this was a beautiful ending and imo, I've seen many Korean historical from 2000s where they definitely show characters are dead and end with a scene showing them in a serene setting they would have been happy in life. So to me, that ending shows his peace after death.
It is his spirit content before his journey to the afterlife. Do Chinese viewers interpret it as an open ending? I base it on my Korean historical dramas and films from 2000s, where the dead character is seen at the end enjoying peace and happiness in their ideal happy setting.
Can you share the link? I can’t find it on YouTube. Thank you.
Hi, I can't find it now either. I'm pretty sure they were both titled aptly and not with fake titles. I didn't watch the full thing, at some point after some episodes, I just sort of skipped through and went to the ending. But back then all the episodes were on YT.
I looked kisskh and it's there with what it says is good translation.
Min Hye Sook hasn't been shown to be a bad CEO, and it's sad that the show for some reason still legitimized the…
My mistake. It's been so long since I wrote it, I think I meant she sells it to him, so he gains control. But even if it wasn't sold to him but to others, What I was referring to was that she gave up her power in shares.
Though later her son makes a mention of wanting to become capable so he can compete with ML for the position. But still, I feel like she should've been acknowledged a bit ore.

Or, is it that the snake, as his companion, heard felt distressed cry and went to him?
