LND is like a Frankenstein's monster of tropes stitched together and characters who don't feel like real people. Meanwhile, NGNL is very tropey but the way the drama colors in the lines of the tropes is special. The dialogues crackle, women's sexuality is a big part of the drama, as in women of all ages and levels of experience desire sex and enjoy it when they have it. The drama also calls out unfair treatment of women at work. But nothing about this drama feels lecturey, the writing is sharp and funny and the actors are killing it.

He was one of her mother's foster kids (but after she'd already graduated from college) and he knew who she was when she started going to the convenience store where he worked so he had a reason to be interested in her from the start and then over the years started to catch feelings for her.

People need to learn to block fast and often, esp since I think all of these recent troll accounts may be alts from the same person

Pretty sure they are poking fun at the trope the way they are with a lot of different tropes

She does know he's cheating and I hope they get into her headspace a bit more about why she's willing to put up with it and how that may be influencing her to not want to get married to anyone. As a foster she might have PTSD from child abuse or witnessed her father abusing her mother and that will do a number on someone's self esteem. This episode might be some kind of prelude to showing the effects of abuse on all the foster kids: Ji Uk, Hui Seong and Ja Yeon (she had a trauma response to the hate comments)

In the first episode he meets a woman in his recording studio and later Hui Seong finds her earring between the sofa cushions. Ja Yeon also sees him meet a woman for a date in episode 4.

We don't know yet but it has something to do with her father

Somebody on Reddit pointed out that he didn't just say "I'm her husband," he said "I'm Team Lead Son Hae-yeong's husband" as a callback to how Hae-yeong said she wants to be known as a Team Lead and not someone's wife 😭😭😭

There's no reason yet but there will be. I can't imagine this show won't make him sweat for his redemption arc

I had not one tiny particle of an idea that Jane was insecure until the next to last episode. Not to mention that Pie says Ryan hasn't changed at all which means his character is stagnant. He still can't do something as basic as pouring milk into coffee. THIS IS BAD WRITING. Think how much better it would've been if the drama's main arc was Jane and Ryan helping each other to overcome their insecurities, become better at their jobs and work on a dream project together. The drama's cinematography is gorgeous but Parbdee needs to invest in better writers.

This! They could've cut back just a bit on the Bahmee-Tae-Judy storyline and made room to introduce this conflict sooner, how is it possible that we knew nothing about Jane until the next to last episode?

I can't speak specifically to how it's used in Korea but in Buddhism enlightenment refers to when someone has achieved an awakening that frees the soul from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth and an escape from suffering. It also implies a level of knowledge not available to the unenlightened. So the joke is that having sex is equal to the state of enlightenment.

There's no way he wasn't her foster brother, the mother recognized him at the wedding. But I think maybe she was off at college or even working her first job when he became a foster kid

I actually find it refreshing that it's not the childhood connection people who will end up in a romance, we see that so often in kdramas. It's good to change it up

I saw the X post and honestly what she said was pretty mild, people are allowed to say they prefer one drama over the other. It's the people freaking out about it who needs to settle down. LND has much a higher viewership so they should just enjoy its popularity and ignore opinions they don't agree with.

Not just English and French phrases, the father said something in Spanish, "que estupido" when he was beating up the CEO in the office, I choked when I heard it 🤣🤣
