I'm starting to feel like something's wrong with me... 10 episodes in and this is seriously not doing doing it…
There's a lot of popular dramas that did nothing for me, it's okay to drop if you're not feeling it

Because he can only return back to the moment he left from and if he'd gone back to that moment he would have returned to the wall collapsing on him during the fire at Ina's school and died

Yes, and that's why we didn't see Ina at the end because they couldn't make the actress look 18 years old

I'm wondering how they are going to handle the romance because Jane is a full adult and has power over Ryan as his boss, it could give the ick if it's not handled right.

How was it?I am thinking of starting this but can't find the enthusiasm
So far there's zero BL elements to it, first two episodes are a workplace drama focused on film and TV production, if that interests you it's worth it but if you want to see cute couple moments so far there's zero.

I absolutely agree but I kind of think Gun wants the childish roles. For example, in Cooking Crush he and Off could've been a chef and a doctor but instead they made the characters students. And it's obviously Gun who wants this because Off is seeking out more mature roles.

This is a workplace drama, not a traditional BL. It looks like the romance will start to show up next episode but I think it's going to be a very slow burn with not a lot of fanservicey moments that can be put up on TikTok. That's a big reason why the MDL ratings are so low. The fanwars have something to do with it too but it's more that this drama so far isn't delivering what BL fans expect.

I think Off is very good. It's nice to see him in a mature role, down to letting his mustache show. The writing for the character is good too, this is someone who's excellent at his job and gets impatient with laziness and a lack of responsibility which is fair.

Gun is just flat out miscast in this. He looks great for his age but he doesn't look 19. Plus he's gotten into some bad habits with his acting where he does the same doe eyes, trembling lips, crying deal. It's not entirely his fault because the character is written to be super passive which is incredibly annoying. If Ryan worked for me and just stood around with his mouth gaping open I'd be pissed too.

The show isn't bad but it's still a little flat. I'm not sure what they are trying to say about the workplace and industry. It's Ryan's journey to adulthood but he's so passive that I don't care much about him at this point. He's just kind of boring so far. Everyone around him is a lot more interesting, esp Jane and View's characters. Having said that, there's no way this deserves a 6.9 rating, that's just insane.

I think he wants the young roles. If you see him on Instagram he's always dressing in cute outfits with lots of makeup and young poses. Even in Not Me it was a serious story but he played students.

The sound was off in the scene where Oye and Cher were at the waterfall
I couldn't believe they didn't rerecord and dub the dialogue, that's just lazy and cheap as hell

I'm surprised by how cute this is. I'm enjoying it a lot more than the Japanese and Korean versions because the ML is less jerky and the progression to him liking her makes more sense. I also like the FL better, she's dumb but not pushy and annoying. You can see why he'd fall for her.

Title The Atypical Family Spoiler
he died fr at the end?
No. He never died and he wasn't lost in the past. This is what happened :

- In the present (2024), Gwiju saved Dahae and Ina at the fire at Ina's school.
- Just before the wall collapsed he time traveled to the past (2011) to the fire at Dahae's school and saved her.
- Because Gwiju disappeared from the present, he is presumed dead and a funeral is held without a body.
- Dahae gives birth to Nuri and for them five years pass (2029).
- In 2029, Nuri summons Gwiju from 2011 just before the explosion at Dahae's school and saves his life.
- Gwiju is reunited with his family in 2029, but he hasn't experienced a five year separation because for him it was one second he was at the fire, the next he was with his family.

The episodes are short so I won't drop it, but I'm totally confused as to why all these men would chase after…
I've been to Japan and you'd be amazed by how conservatively the young women dress. The anime and Loli styles are subcultures, the average women have collars up to their next, covered arms and skirts down to their calves or ankles.

Can you tell me more dramas from the parbdee production?
They produced The Gifted, F4 Thailand, Enigma, Be My Favorite, Beauty Newbie and the movie Love You to Debt. They're known for being one of the better production companies that work for GMMTV (and in fact GMMTV acquired a 51% stake in the company in 2022) and their dramas tend to look great and be well written. https://gmmtv.fandom.com/wiki/Parbdee_Taweesuk

We Are has an 8.2 rating, Only Boo has an 8.4 rating and this first episode has a 7.2? Yikes. The episode had problems but it doesn't deserve to be rated so low.

So far this has a dramedy vibe: a bit of comedy but more like a realistic look at film production and what it's like to crank out content for clients on a deadline. We got it with Ryan at the print shop having to redo the armpit and again when the interns failed to get the film clip completed in time (though that's Jane's fault for being a dick and not explaining when he really needed the clip). We also got the explainer at the end of the episode which I found interesting because I've done similar work but I don't think the average BL fan will care at all.

Somebody on Twitter caught that there's several references to an award winning Thai film called Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy (Jane has the poster over his desk and wears a t-shirt printed with the film's poster). It's saying something about Jane and what he really wants to be doing. He's probably bored and frustrated being stuck doing commercial films instead of the films he really wants to make. So this is the kind of show where you need to pay attention to the details to fully catch what's going on.

I think there's kind of a mismatch between the vibe the drama's director is going for and most of the acting except for Off. It feels like they are defaulting to acting the way they would in a typical GMMTV student comedy but the show is more of a realistic office drama so it doesn't really work, esp with Piploy and Poon. Also I'm not feeling Gun in the lead, he's too old to play these naive student roles.

This is a Parbdee production and looks like one, they have a very specific aesthetic with the cinematography and shot choices that I like a lot. But the music choices are strange, especially the accordion music which I hope goes away in future episodes.

I don't know, I think I kind of like it? At least I liked that the show felt very grounded in reality. But it's not 100% there for me yet.

I love this comment.. I agree with you. Can you recommend me other dramas to watch?
I loved the Cdrama Will Love in Spring which is a romance between a woman who lost her leg in an accident and a man who works as a mortician. It's about two difficult and traumatized people who find healing together. if you're into problematic people who evolve into better people this is your jam.
