I'm watching side-by-side and it's a very interesting experience. The remake is 3 hours shorter than the original and they made some changes to the plot to make the time travel easier to follow. But they also cut down on the time you spend with the FL when she's grieving and the development of the trio of friends in the 90s and I think that's not a good thing. It makes you less emotionally invested in the leads. Also IMO the actors were stronger in the original, especially the FL. Anyway, yes to side-by-side viewing if you have the time.

If Alice was Korean she'd be forced to have a nose job when that's one of the things that makes her face uniquely beautiful. Korean beauty standards are oppressive.

I tried to give the Korean version a fair chance but I think the three main leads are miscast so I started rewatching the original and I was reminded of how good Alice Ko, Greg Hsu and Patrick Shih are. Alice does a phenomenal job of making you feel Huang Yu Xuan's grief and Chen Yun Ru's despair. She also has wonderful chemistry with both ML's. Greg captures his character's journey from an immature boy to a scarred man desperate to prevent two tragedies. And Patrick's Mo Jun Jie is quietly heartbreaking as the boy who finds a kindred spirit in a girl who is hard to love.

In the Korean version, Jeon Yeo Been is just too harsh and cold to make you feel anything. Ahn Bo Young is fine but I dislike the 2ML who plays the character as someone who is shy and insecure, which was not true of the 2ML in the original.

💯💯💯. I don't dislike Pine and August's story because they have chemistry and are interesting but he's behaving like a real asshole.

I miss the kids too but I hate saying it because people swoop in to say WELL WHY DON'T YOU GO WATCH A TEEN ROMANCE which isn't the point. Eps 1-7 were about two people who are blessed and cursed to be special and who find friendship and acceptance in each other while facing existential threats to themselves and their families. Then we got yanked away from those people for 6 episodes which honestly could've been condensed into half the length without losing anything important.

Same here and I saw a production still of Bongseok and he's going to lose weight which makes me really sad. A huge part of his charm was his size, he was a big cuddly loving teddy bear who could fly.

I am with you. It's not just flashbacks but flashbacks within flashback with constant timeskips in eps 12 and 13 in particular. And we didn't need things repeated over and over, especially when it takes time away from developing the friendship between the MLs and explaining more about the agency and the missions and how people got identified and recruited.

There were four timeskips in 15 minutes at the start of ep 12 so it's not surprising you're confused (so am I)

What's making me insane are the time skips and general plotting. There were four time skips in 15 minutes at the start of episode 12 😭 We keep hopscotching back and forth and spending time with characters we don't care about, meanwhile things like the male leads friendship and details about the agency aren't getting enough attention and we're already up to episode 13.

I also saw a still from upcoming episodes that shows Bongseok will lose weight and I hate that so much. It was endearing to see him as a chubby, loving kid.

Disney is shutting down their Korean production unit so I doubt there will be a sequel unless they sell the rights to another studio or perhaps if the webtoon author retained his rights for future projects.

Pat/August is serving c*nt and I am here for it! I love seeing Off/Pine with his jaw open every time she shuts him down. I don't know why they saved the best couples for the end of the series, I bet a lot of people dropped before it got crackalicious. I'm loving August/Pine and Florence/Nathee and even Irin/Hack. And yes this drama is cheesy and cringe, that's why it's fun.

Am I the only one who assumed that Mew and Ray fucked and Boston has video which means Mew has been lying to Top about being a virgin and that's why Top got so upset? And if Mew did lie about being a virgin, Top has every reason to be upset and also they weren't in an official relationship (according to Mew) so Top is free to fuck whoever he wants.
