You're right. The princess is an open book, easier to read and plan against if you also have someone else with power like Duke Su. With the step mom, dad is blind to her antics. She will need to make this woman show her true face somehow, but step mom is super cunning.

Not sure what episode you're on, but she's in kahoots with the emperor's brother, who holds all significant military power. The emperor knows this and is walking a fine line not to trigger anything too soon.

this is me! a lot of the kdramas back in the day had nonsensical plots too, but I think it had "heart" and a way of bringing out emotions in you.

I'm not going to lie. I felt a little silly translating 狸猫换太子 to English 😂 A lot gets lost in translation. One word in Chinese could paint a whole story or picture. I occasionally watch cdramas on viki or netflix, and the translation really doesn't capture the essence. I nearly died laughing when I saw Netflix translate 校草 to campus hunk.

Like another commenter said below... I'm hoping this is some sort of fake out... I can just imagine the chaos that would ensue if he confirmed he was joining.
