Aw, I love Jiu Ye... but hopefully you'll like his character better in this drama, whenever the subs come... Viki has the first ep now but I don't think it's subbed.
According to Viki's TV Guide, it is"coming soon"; the statistics show that a few people are already watching it. I guess the ones who don't need to wait for subs! It's been a while since I was this excited about starting a currently airing drama. This'll only be my second Chinese drama but I already have such a crush on Hu Ge from the first one. :)
This is a music video (Hu Ge singing) with Xin Yue/Jiu Ye moments. It's very spoilery if you haven't watched the drama yet, but if you have and if you liked them..... <3
Second lead syndrome. Seriously! Well, for a long time I wasn't sure which one of them was the "first" and "second", and as long as I wasn't sure, I felt that this was a love triangle that I really liked. Once it became too obvious I was a bit disappointed.
I really, really liked Jiu Ye...
Other than that, I found this drama very interesting. I loved watching it. Well, the power struggle in the palace became a little bit too much for me to handle in the end, but compared to other dramas that I've watched, this did not have any "boring" moments that made me wish it could be over already.
It was also beautiful to watch, and I liked the music a lot. Usually I don't care about the music in dramas but this time I did.
I agree that these things are problematic and it bothers me a lot when I see abuse in dramas. Well, in most of the j-dramas I watch, these things don't happen a lot but I have seen examples of most things you mention. (More so in k-dramas, though...)
I want to watch this for Narimiya Hiroki, but it seems like one of those cheesy kid focused dramas that have kids…
Yes, and no. I have only watched two episodes, but so far it has had kids crying in every episode and then smiling in the end. It looks like that's what it's going to be like. But there seems to be a darker side to it, too. The main character grew up in a terrible family (there were a few flashbacks in ep 1 and even more in ep 2), got away from them and now they're looking for her. It seems like the drama is going to focus a lot on how she's going to handle this. It's too soon to say if this is going to be interesting or not. (So far I'm not very excited about this. But Narimiya Hiroki's character is a cute, kind guy. I wanted to watch it for Fujiki Naohito but his character is boring so far, cold and strict. I wish their roles were reversed *lol*)
I watched this movie with no expectations and I was pleasantly surprised, I loved it so much. I agree the acting was great. (Also, it was the first time I saw LJW and I am very happy about that!)
When I saw the cover photo for this article on the startpage, I smiled. Then I said to myself: "Wait, what?! In which drama have I seen this actor before? Have I seen him before?!" I had to read the article to make sure, but my point is: I think you're right that there's something about him!! *lol* Anyway, it turns out I have seen him in Golden Bowl, a drama that I actually put on hold, I think because I wasn't in the right mood when I tried to watch it... But your guide makes me want to watch all the movies you mention. :)
When I read this article I was reminded about how a lot of the works the Iura Arata starred in are based on books (only one good reason to stalk him *lol*), I looked up the details I didn’t have stored in my memory: http://mydramalist.com/people/1004-iura-arata
J-dramas based on novels:
Kanata no ko, a novel with the same title by Kakuta Mitsuyo (aaah, I haven’t finished this short drama yet!)
Koi (drama special) by Koike Mariko (I’d love to read this book!)
Kikoku (drama special, haven’t watched it) based on a short story called "Saipan Kara Kita Ressha," written by the late author Hiroshi Muneta.
A drama that airs in July this year is Detective versus Detectives, based on a novel by Keisuke Matsuoka
Movies:
The extreme sukiyaki, novel and screenplay written by Shiro Maeda
The ravine of goodbye, by Shuichi Yoshida
A Story of Yonosuke, by Shuichi Yoshida (the only one of these movies I’ve watched so far)
Strangers in the City, Tatsuo Shimitzu
Snakes and Earrings, by Hitomi Kanehara (I bought this book but haven’t read it yet)
Thank you for including my serious topic. No, actually I haven't watched Indian, Thai, and Spanish dramas, I based my question only on what I said. Of course, I know that in very many countries all over the world it is considered normal to hit your child as a means of discipline, however where I come from this is illegal, which is why I react strongly to it.
To end this comment on a lighter note, thanks for the age gap drama recommendations! I've watched the Japanese ones, I'll try some of the others. :)
