Yes, I can understand that I guess! It's just another reason why ratings aren't trustworthy. :)

...And just to clarify, I replied to a comment of yours on cuzie's profile. I forgot it would end up on your profile instead of under your comment (like on the articles), in case you were wondering where the comment came from so randomly. :)

I think it's so interesting how people feel diffrently about dramas. :) Nagareboshi is a good example of when opinions differ. Lots of people really like it. I, for one, felt it was a mix of good things and super annoying things; I don't regret watching it but it didn't move me. On the other hand, I generally do enjoy "slow-sailing" dramas. And sometimes I love the ones that others drop. Fascinating. :)

Hey, thanks for the firends request. Nice to meet you! :) Wow, you really have watched many dramas! :)

"Now if we could just live in the general vicinity of each other and end our roneriness then that would be great." - I agree! :)
Which drama was the most popular one last year? I wasn't watching dramas yet back then. I watched 9 of the 2013 dramas and only one movie; I was surprised when I counted. :) But most of them aren't on this list. I liked Last Cinderella a lot but it's not on my top 10 list. There were many of the nominated dramas that I want to watch. This year I should probably study more and not watch as many dramas. ;)
Liked it, but found it to be a lot weaker than the j-drama in terms of character development. The boxer guy didn't leave any impression at all. If you haven't watched the j-drama I guess you'll like the cakes and the bromance in the movie, but you'll get a lot more of this in the drama. Also, funnier details and supporting characters that there's no room for in a short movie. GIANT BONUS GOLD STAR to the movie though for not censoring the story! I approve of the baker being gay like he is in the anime!! This means the character of the baker is different in the two versions; I like them both! Kim Jae Wook is pretty hot and the rest of the cast is also good. The style is also less anime-like in the movie. As a whole, though, I prefer the j-drama even though its cute baker isn't as gay as you'd think. There's m/m kissing in the movie, but the almost-kiss scene in the drama was hot...
okay so every1 is saying this is a bromance movie, but in the trailer all I see is men kissing! are they gays…
In my opinion, the bromance aspect is weaker here than in the j-drama. That's just because the movie is a lot shorter, obviously, so there's not enough room for character development. The j-drama is more about the friendship between all four of the men, the movie is more focused on the gay baker and the owner.

Well, for example, I've started to write "food" where it's relevant, or actors' names, so that I won't have to click on each title to remember why I added that drama. :)
I always wonder if any new drama that I've marked as potentially interesting will be subbed or not, but as Shitsuren Chocolatier has gotten some attention already, I'm hopeful. It's because of the cast, I guess. :)
*lol* Yes, I feel so brave! We'll see if I can watch it 'til the end this time...
Pleasant little drama is this show. I think this is the best SP in 2013. Shame the subtitle releases had been…
I don't think I would have noticed this one if I hadn't seen your review in the feeds. I want to watch it. :)

Yes, I am familiar with that problem. *lol* I've only just recently discovered that the notes function helps to organzie the PTW list.
Haha, yes, I got a lot of recommendations! I wrote a pretty detailed post explaining what I'm looking for, so the number of replies surprised me. So many, in fact, that I'm pretty sure I'm not going to watch all of them! :)

It's so much fun when you find new potential bias material - kind of like a crush, but without all the heartache from real life! ;)
Well, I've got one more ep of YNSH left to watch. It's hard to explain. I like it, because it has some good themes and sometimes it's hilarious, but it also makes me feel...hm, impatient, maybe? A lot of it is very exaggerated, and althought that's part of the fun, I think I have to be in a special kind of mood to enjoy the genre.
I don't remember who recommended Slow Dance but I was told I'd probably like it and it has some actors that I like. :) I also plan to watch a food drama soon, I asked for recommendations on the forum. :)

Oh, that's right, the synopsis doesn't mention Sakura's friends... Well, it's hard to come across a good synopsis, either they tell to much or too little. (And sometimes, they're even misleading.)
Well, it's not so much that I desperately want to finish things, but I desperately want to watch so many new things, haha. ;) Yes, I almost finished YNSH. :)
I have high hopes for Shitsuren Chocolatier, I just hope I'm not expecting too much. But MatsuJun+chocolate... sounds good in theory. :)
[cont. from below] I like it when honorifics and other "hard to translate"-words are left as they are, and I think it's a good idea to explain the words in brackets. I think it feels wrong if for example "san" is left out. But where to draw the line? I think it's okay to leave "itadakimasu", and most of the time words like "oniichan" are left as they are, while "okaasan" usually is translated. It's natural since there is a perfectly good translation, but there are other ways to address one's mother, too?I also prefer if names are sometimes changed to pronouns. I mean, instead of writing "Where was Sae-chan last night?" it could be written as "Where were you last night, Sae-chan?" when they talk face to face, because it's more natural for us to say "you" instead of constantly repeating names, even if it's the other way around in Japanese. This slight modification makes for a better flow.
Interesting article, I think most of us have thought about the subtitles of our dramas more than once! I think that an ideal translation needs to stay as true to the original as possible, BUT it also needs to be modified to make sense and feel natural. Otherwise we just get "word sallad" like someone said below. Just the same as when a professional translator works with a novel. However, I guess most subs we see for our dramas are fanmade, and they may be written by people who aren't native speakers of either language, so some mistakes are excusable, imho. I'm grateful that there are subs at all! And English is not my first language and I know very little Japanese, so I'm normally not very critical. But it does annoy me when I constantly see "their" instead of "they're" and other typos/mistakes and odd grammar!

I don't know if you saw my comment in the feeds with all the "this person plans to watch that" posts, but you asked about Last Cinderella and I wanted to make sure to tell you that yes, I liked it! It took me a few episodes to get into it, though, and I don't think I found it quite as hilarious as some people seem to think, but I enjoyed it! I could relate to the main character in some ways. I liked that there were two main leads who were both good in their own ways. I disliked one of them in the beginning but then I was completely torn between the two for a while. It's a romance, but it's also about friendship between three women in their late 30's, in some ways it's about how women's lives are restricted by society's rules for what to do/how to act. If I were to rank the dramas I've watched (only 26) I might make it #12 or something. That is to say, I recommend it! :)

That's my plan, too. January is still a few more days away, so I'll be able to complete a few more dramas. :)
On my list already, but now I'm looking forward to it even more! :)
