At the moment, I feel like I still need to be convinced that Deokim is falling for San. Like, we get a lot from San's perspective, but not enough from hers. Why did she have next to no reaction to the library thing? It was strange.
Am I the only one a little disappointed with the angle they seem to be going for with the Fairy Palace thing?…
I think it was done to give women a bigger role? Since the novel is much more focused on Deokim, whereas this drama decided to go down the traditional sageuk route and focus on Yi San, so they tried to balance that out with having lots of female antagonists? That's my feeling.
Questions for the folks more familiar with the historical figures. Do you think their story has been romanticised?…
I think it's very difficult to know her inner thoughts and feelings since we don't have any of her first-hand accounts, so both the novel and drama fictionalise her motives
Nobody is forcing Viki subbers to do it, they sub voluntarily because it's a hobby and they enjoy it. If they didn't want to do it, they could stop at any time.
Yes, Viki subbers are volunteers who choose to contribute their time and effort. I know many of them do it as a hobby. It's not a job. They get "paid" with various Viki rewards and incentives. That's why it can take them longer to sub than Netflix etc. The money subscribers pay goes, at least in part, to drama production companies/distributors. On the other hand, "free" pirate sites make money by showing ads. That money goes to the people who host the pirate sites. They don't directly support the drama industry. It's easy to go to a pirate site and watch dramas. Part of the reason I pay subscriptions is not just to watch shows quickly but also because I want to support dramas. I would guess that's also the case for other people who subscribe.
I accept that, but paying for a service is not useless. Without official sites and their subscribers, there wouldn't be any subbed episodes for pirate sites to host.
The beginning and end of ep 8 are really the opposite….hope he apologizes for threatening her.
I think they were supposed to be opposite. At the beginning, he shows her that he has the power to kill her, but then in the episode he actually ends up using his power to save her.
