You also need to remember in c-ent, billing positions are really big. Yes, Lusi does deserve the absolute best…
Well said. I completely agree with you. I really appreciate Lusi's choices of work. I'm sure she receives many scripts from writers or directors with well-known actors in mind for the ML casting. But like you said, not many bigshot actors (or/and even their fans) are comfortable about them being second billing or having the plot be female-centric. IYKYK, we've gone through that before...
And personally, I think just because some others are bigger stars, also doesn't mean their acting skills are definitely better than lesser-known ones anyway. Just like Wang Anyu and Chen Zheyuan for example. I think they are both really good and I like their acting.
I honestly would rather Lusi choose good scripts and roles instead of focusing on working with famous actors just for the sake of it. Many dramas with bigshot MLs tend to have FLs who always do stupid things and are controlled by condescending MLs. And I know Lusi doesn't fancy roles like that. So really, no thank you to those.
So happy for him. His success is truly well deserved. Honestly hope to see him in a good romcom!! He has such a funny personality during interviews but his roles are always the opposite. Lol
Changing appearnace part sounds a bit like Beauty Inside (except it wasn't due to technology in that one)
That's what I immediately thought too. But perhaps this has a different kind of plot since Beauty Inside was more of a melodrama, while this seems to be more of a romcom.
Honestly, to each their own. CLOY is about a couple coming together starting as strangers. So there are more sweet moments between the leads as they fall for each other and their love grows stronger. For QoT, it's about a married couple that's on the verge of breaking up, and as the story progresses, they try to find their way back to each other. There are sweet and cute moments too, but there are more moments of the leads facing struggles either alone or together.
Both dramas give off a different feeling and somewhat cater to slightly different viewers. When CLOY came out, I loved it so much. But as I grew older and watched QoT now, I loved QoT more.
So happy for QoT!!! The cast was impeccable. The drama had lots of twists, but it was the real emotions that stuck. The way a married couple that was falling apart realized their flaws and worked together towards a happier future. The way a rich family, who didn't cherish the real things that matter in life, had to learn it the hard way to finally see what life is truly all about. The way a poor boy, who only wanted love from his cold-blooded mother, ended up becoming so twisted because he learned about love the wrong way.
The ending of QoT was just so beautiful, though realistic and painful. But it taught us how to see life in a different perspective. Each episode consisted a roller-coaster of emotions. Happy, moving, sad, anxious, and outraged. It was more than just love between couples, but also love among family and friends.
I was a huge fan of CLOY, but I think CLOY and QoT are just beautiful in their own ways. QoT surpassing CLOY in ratings should definitely be celebrated because it's a good thing, and I think it is well deserved. QoT managed to hit every emotion and truly lived up to its title, bringing its viewers to tears until the very end. What's more amazing is that those tears at the end are both sad and happy tears. They are bittersweet, just like life. TT^TT okay now I need to go cry again.
Omg...binged this drama coz the plot is so good. Love all the characters. Though it became quite easy to guess who the real villain was, it was still fun to watch. There seems to be no news of a second season with that ending, but I really hope they do it!!!! This story and the characters, plus the whole concept, they are just too good to only have one season. Would definitely love to watch more. But I gotta agree with some that FL's actions during the last few minutes was kinda weird. She's smarter than that. But also maybe coz they let their guard down thinking Wufeng suffered a great loss and would lay low.
Edit: Okay, did some digging around and found out that there were some issues with the director....it's really a pity that such a good show and cast had to face such things. Perhaps if season 2 is possible, maybe switch the director. Lol
Don't think so. Not sure about GRID since I didn't watch that, but this writer's other dramas don't really have romance in them. Even in LIFE, there's only a hint.
But for BLOOD FREE, the fl and ml's relationship seem to be strictly business, and it is implied that ml has a wife and kid. So I doubt there would be any romance involved.
you should watch her movie "hwaran" she starred in it with SJK and even went to cannes for it! similarly dark…
Ohh thanks for the recommendation! I find the plot interesting but a bit on the fence about the rest of the cast, tbh. Hahah. But I'll keep the movie in mind when I'm in the mood for a K-noir film!
BIBI has constantly proved herself to have potential in acting especially in her music videos before she did Worst of Evil, but she really nailed her character there and I'm excited to see her here!!! Also happy that our 3 main leads will be back. I guess this means Geum Sae Rok won't be reprising her role. I wonder if the other supporting characters will also make a return.
Don't have a problem with the age difference. Shin Hyun Been's role is probably gonna be in her early to mid 30s, while Moon Sang Min's character is gonna be like his character in WI, where he'd be in his late twenties.
Honestly, I think he did well as a young man in Queen's Umbrella, coz it was closer to his age. But when it comes to portraying a man in his late 20s, he still lacks a bit of maturity in his acting. Because he still gives off a very boyish feeling, who is still wet behind the ears and haven't experienced much in life. I guess it's about the gaze and tone that aren't quite convincing.
Whenever a very young actor needs to play a much more mature role, I can't help but always compare them to Lee Jae Wook and his role in Search WWW. Because his acting was mature and layered, making it very convincing that he wasn't in his early twenties. In fact, I didn't even realize he was until I checked.
Maybe Moon Sang Min might surprise me in this one, idk. But Shin Hyun Been's first leading role in a romcom! Aaahhh I still haven't gotten over her role with Jung Woo Sung in TMTYLM....
I gave a good rating to help and try to neutralize the homophobes who keep giving low ratings in the Bls.
It's the exact opposite...the homophobic or ignorant ones are giving this a high rating coz they can't see how the writer is doing a gay character dirty.
You are saying "Is it ok for parents to abandon their children once they are 18??", Is DH parent of JH or what??…
I wish I could like your comment 1,000 times. Lol. Thank you for putting it perfectly into words. People are excusing Jihan's behavior just coz he's the baby brother. But Dohan, too, lost his parents and had to deal with a pushy younger brother, and live in fear for getting discriminated by his own family due to his sexuality.
I blame the writer, first and foremost, for writing Dohan in such a way. Dohan was never put in a positive light throughout the drama so far, constantly being blamed for being selfish, and being called a coward due to hiding his sexuality. But for Jihan who caused an even bigger mess and acted way out of line on several occasions, he was portrayed as a pitiful young boy who had no one to rely on, is willing to sacrifice everything for love now and gets to redeem himself by being the selfless hero who saves the day.
What Dohan did was basically cutting his toxic family out of his life for those few years for his own sanity. But no, people don't see how toxic Jihan was.
Couldn't agree more with you, especially on Kopiko part. I used to love Kopiko but it's PPL annoyed me so much…
No, I totally get you. I used to like kopiko candy as well coz they were the cheaper candies back then. But since it found its way into kdramaland, seeing it in almost every drama I'm watching felt so annoying. It's like I'm fed up of seeing it in real life too when it won't stop popping up in kdramas, especially with those fake reactions! Lol. Idk, maybe it's the exaggerated reactions that backfired for me. Hahaha
And personally, I think just because some others are bigger stars, also doesn't mean their acting skills are definitely better than lesser-known ones anyway. Just like Wang Anyu and Chen Zheyuan for example. I think they are both really good and I like their acting.
