The ending would have been perfect had he gone to prison to actually repent.
I don't mind the last episode focusing on YHW, it actually make sense, JDJ was always suppose to die and the point was for YHW to get his revenge so no surprise here. The whole plot being repentence is really really good, except that it wasn't until he was backed into a corner (being framed and his attempted murder not getting justice) that he decided to reveal everything and even so, there was no consequences for him. It would have been better if he decided to turn against SN with no other incentive than just repent after he woke up from a random accident instead of attempted murder. If YHW ends up doing everything to get revenge on himself, how he is repenting towards JDJ by revealing everything if the point is to serve himself?
I liked this drama very much. The ending was satisfied for me except for one thing: "Yoon Hyun Woo" confessed…
I mean, he knew who did it and didn't confess for 20 years, he's an accomplice here. Maybe he got off with probation? But no way can he just walk free.
It's the first time I see a show with plot armour literally having an explanation and being justified lol So many time was I like "there is NO way they could have survived this"
Is there a part 3 ? If not, couldn't they write the main plot as Jung Uk taking down Jin Mu and exposing him for... idk, everything ? Since they didn't feel like actually doing something smart about it in the first part ? Like, dude is the main vilain of the show, we barely get to see him and no one is doing anything to bring him down. "It was Jin mu", no shit ?! You've known for 3 years, hello? Care to do something about it ? Wtf is this thing about explaining the drought just for the queen to get a new body. Obviously the main reason is for Jin Mu to benefit from the new stone but it's barely adressed. Or at least, the way it's adressed is like it's not the main focus of the plan. Now Jung Uk is going to war with him over Seo Yul who are both unknowingly involved with each other ? Sorry but it's too much lazy writting for me. What's the point of introducing such an interesting and smart and manipulating vilain as Jin Mu, and not have him be the main focus of the plot ?
I thought they at least would have the crown prince figure Jin Mu out in the 3 years, secretly working to bring him down, but nope. No character growth AT ALL. "Oh, let's give him a turtle"....?? It's frustrating. He was the only one to have his doubts about Jin Mu in the first part, but they wrote him to be his puppet for the next 3 years, because what ? leverage of knowledge? "yOu gO aNd tEll jUng Uk" well yeah go, idk do the right thing. I hope he will.
If the love story is the only thing you focus then sure, it's cute (and that's only if they get their happy ending, otherwise that would be useless), but everything around it is flat.
Why is that bad tho... if he goes that was u all along. Even if it gets resolved quickly?
Because it's an unoriginal narrative to have him fall for her twice. It's like those dramas where the two leads fall in love and then "oh we were childhood friend but forgot each other". It's lazy plot. If it gets resolved quickly he won't have time to fall in love with her so that's fine.
omg, the "we don't recognize her" trope is going to be annoying, I can feel it. It's like the twin sister of the miscommunication trope. I swear if he falls for her and then learns she is Naksu and they have that "omg, that was you all along" conversation, I'm going to off myself. And the once again love triangle with the same men? please
It looked more like Gisung slipped as they grappled, no? I'm not convinced that Sooheon pushed him off (not that…
Mark this as spoiler. He didn't push him but no one knows that because no one saw the whole thing, when the other students talked about it they tought he was punishing him and just assumed he pushed him
Ok so the ending was very very very underwhelming! The original plot was very good and they could have done a great thing with it and decided to get lazy for some reason ?
First of all, Chanmi giving her little talk, resulting in JB's plit personality going away is just...laughable. That's not how it works, please what was that lmaoooo. It gave "You're better than this, look at me this isn't you" HAHAHAHA
Call me weird but introducing Sooheon's sickness and going nowhere with it apart for making him quit school at the end was... useless. I thought it was so bold to make a main character in a high school kdrama have a deadly cancer, I really really liked the idea, and it would have been even bolder to have him die. The doctor was so grave like "You'll be dead in 6month, RIP" and then he doesn't die ? boring lol. That little happy ending is just blend. They should have killed him or not introduce the sickness at all.
Had they made 16 episodes, they could have introduced more scenes of the high school students having a "no tell" rule or whatever which could have made more sense for ALL of them to lie. We're talking about a murder here (unless he doesn't die but well, we'll never know). Yeah they were all happy when that bully got expelled but it was not enough imo to have them cover up a murder. The drama was not dark enough for it to happen that way. People are not that close in real life to not say what they saw, only reason they could have lied is if there was a "you talk and you're dead" rule. That could have played even better in Chanmi's brother murder with every kid being like "idk, idc" during the investigation. Them waving at him as he leaves as if they don't dead ass believe he threw someone off of a rooftop ?? lmao wft ??
We were right about Chanmi's brother being gay but honestly the reveal of JB's accident was... disapointing. Idk, I was fully convinced with the idea that Gi osung was in love with JB who was in love with Chanmi's brother resulting in all that mess but the split personality thing was just too much. Classical jealousy plot here could have worked better. Whatever big shock reveal they thought they were doing by announcing he was in love with his sister fell flat, it came out of nowhere and it was boring, bouuh!
I'll pass on everyone getting beat up and never going to the hospital even though internal bleeding is a way more common thing happening than people think + the many plotholes, thethings that were never adressed or things that were useless in the plot but took airing time for some reason.
It was overall a decent drama, clearly not the best in that genre. Especially when it's airing right after Weak Class Hero and The King of Pigs. They could have made it darker.
Good thing the romance between DJ and Minyoung plays little part in the plot because their chemistry is at 0. That also might be why. There were not that many scenes of them so I never warmed up to their relationship. I'm fine with that btw, I'm tired of romance ruining good plots.
The credit card was in HW's name and at the end of the episode we see that right after he exits the bank he get's…
During past HW's timeline DJ didn't exist or supposedly died, there was no trace of him anywhere, no photo no nothing, so it could not have been him. In this "new" timeline, though they co exist, I'm not sure they actually look alike. I think present HW looks different. We'll have to wait and see.
Now i want to see these two together again asap. Why cannot kdramas repeat their pairing more often. ☹️
Fear of being overshadowed by another work maybe ? Or actors and actresses not wanting to be tied to one person for too long in fear it might effect how viewers see their chemistry with other partners? but honestly if a pairing worked really well, it might attract a lot of viewer if we get to see them again. I know I would, I rewatched this one 3 times already T_T
Don't forget to go give The King Of Pigs some attention if you loved Weak hero. It's a bit darker but very similar, no other kdrama can come closer when it comes to similarities (well maybe extracurricular)
