The historical dramas that have been blowing up the past couple of years just don't make sense to me. I haven't seen Pursuit of Jade but Blossom so far is incredibly mediocre and so was Prisoner of Beauty. I'm losing faith in the audience's opinion these days lmao.
I really hate business plotlines in romance dramas. When the drama is set in an office or business is the main focus, then yeah I get it and it can be done very well. But in a drama like this where it's a side plot it's always so fucking boring. And they're spending so much time on it. Like none of us care about Haoming's investments and business partners. It's so unnecessary.
I have to wonder if everyone who rated this so high just hasn't watched very many cdramas? Because this is so mid, it's hard to finish it. It's not bad, but not very good either.

Overworking and undereating for extended periods of time would take its toll on anyone. I'm sure there are way more actresses and actors who experience health issues than we'll ever know about. It's crazy that actresses as tall as Wang Churan still try to stay under 45 kg. I remember when 50 kg was the "skinny standard" for east asian celebs. That was already crazy, why is it even lower now?

I hope nothing bad is happening to him behind the scenes. Makes me nervous when actors get really popular but then are sidelined like he is. It doesn't make any sense. Lost You Forever and Love of the Divine Tree were both such hits, he should be highly sought after and being given his pick of dramas.

You're not wrong. I'm liking it but it is kind of slow and lackluster. I was expecting more so I'm a little bit disappointed. Definitely not a bad drama and I'm going to actually finish it (which has been rare for me these days) but it's not really living up to the insane hype.
It's actually crazy that a seemingly standard romcom has been shelved for so many years. PXR had so much momentum and popularity back when it was filmed too, you'd think they would have wanted to capitalize on it. Also the description talking about them working on ai, that part in the script must be so outdated now.
