Please, even Princess Pearl in the 90s had kiss scenes, let's be real. This is not highbrow art. This is an idol romance. It's ridiculous to not kiss. If he wants to get away without doing a kiss scene, then do a different genre. The actors who say they won't do useless kissing are doing better quality dramas because they're better actors. Ren Jialun needs to get over himself and his mediocrity

You're either delusional or know that you're lying. He does avoid kiss scenes. There was proof of him having a stunt double in one to do the kiss scene. In almost all of his dramas they use an angle to hide that they're not actually kissing. The very few scenes where you actually do see them kiss it's straight up dead fish Park Shinhye 2010 style. You're spending all of this time bullshitting everyone to try to make RJL seem like he doesn't avoid love scenes when there's proof that he literally does.

Don't let the others bully you lmao you're so right. I'll still watch this drama because I LOVE Peng Xiaoran and she rarely gets the lead in big dramas but Ren Jialun annoys me so bad. Like grow up dude if youre going to repeatedly be the ML in romance dramas and make millions of dollars off of the genre, you should be a professional and not get stunt doubles or fakeout angles for kiss scenes. It's not like RJL is a Chen Kun or Chang Chen level actor and crazy demands would be justifiable because of skill level. Ren Jialun is literally just another shitty idol actor, there is no reason for him to be the lead in these dramas when he refuses to do the job properly.

Absolutely. The main couple were adorable and of course I rooted for them. But Miles Wei and Zhang Yaqin played these complicated, difficult characters and were definitely the most memorable for me.

You Zhen was horrible and vile but Zhang Yaqin played her with such sincerity that you couldn't help but understand her as a woman of her time. She grew up with such privilege but with a power hungry father and her fate entirely out of her control. All of her actions were so incredibly understandable, even if I hated her for them. Zhang Yaqin is one of the most underrated actresses of her gen for real. She does not overact at all, it's all so subtle and human. I really loved her portrayal of this haughty, insecure, but ultimately powerless princess.

No one's sabotaging her. She's from a rich family and is doing just fine. You can like A Girl Like Me and Sweet Combat, but they are objectively bad dramas. AGLM has a 5.5 on douban and SC has a 2.8. There's no way any other actress who did such bad dramas would be put on the same level as Yang Zi, Zhou Dongyu, and Zheng Shuang. I'm not saying they're all good actresses, but they had insane commercial success and popularity that GXT didn't earn.

She was named one of the four dan actresses despite her bad roles and bad acting. She was nowhere near the level of success that the other three had at the time. Nepotism played a part in that.

Saving this drama for the most perfect rainy day. I know I'm going to love it.

Honestly, kdramas deserve the lower ratings. Kdrama ratings used to all be so insanely inflated, it was impossible to know what was actually good on mdl. I wish it would happen to cdramas too. It's crazy how low the standards are for high ratings on this site. I miss back in the 2010s when ratings for cdramas used to mean something. Only like the very best cdramas had 8.5+ ratings in the past.

I liked the personalities of all of the characters. The dynamic in the office between all of the coworkers was fun and light. The leads had good chemistry. BUT that's about all of the good. The story was so boring. The business side of things in the majority of kdramas is usually ass and that was no exception here. If you're going to have relationships and chemistry be the driving force of a drama, then let it be just that. Don't add in a bunch of mediocre boring storylines. And don't get me started on the childhood connection thing. Such a stupid contrived conflict. 6.5 because I really do love the leads, especially Han Jimin. She's wonderful in everything I've seen of hers and that was true here as well. Just wish she had better material to work with.

I haven't started this drama yet but I'm the same. I will always prefer the actual actor's voice. I love Cheng Yi, he definitely has the tragic hero thing down perfectly.
