yes but do you honestly believe it? If you said "I think he must have told the director or main star to eff off and his agency suspended him for 2 years as a punishment" I'd agree with you. But blaming good looks, when that's literally the main requirement for stardom in Korea, is a head-scratcher.

"some people may be put off by his good looks. I admit he doesn't look like your average guy. "

Wait, wut? In the industry where 90% of actors and singers are exceedingly good looking (hello plastic surgery) aka visuals, somehow one actor's good looks is a put off? C'mon, even you don't believe it.

The pandemic has messed with lots of people in lots of ways around the world, and I've personally heard from actors…
since this is aimed at me, I did my homework.

Nothing in his cheery vids (with barely any following and views compared to other drama actors YT) suggests he had a mental breakdown. Moreover, I cannot imagine an exhaustion from making one drama a year in a role that gets 10 min per episode tops. I see actors who work non stop in leading roles and none of them reported "exhaustion". Moreover, when actors take a break they usually announce it. This doesn't seem like a planned break but more like that he couldn't get work. Look at his fellow Starhouse actor Ahn Hyo-seop, he's the agency's biggest star now and working non-stop.

Fans here just won't admit that I'm right. He was in the sageuk with Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung, Kim So Hyun and Siwan. They all went on to become major stars, only he didn't and his role was bigger than Siwan's, basically secondary lead's teen version. Yet the industry ignored him but went crazy for 4 other actors. So you cannot deny that I'm right.

sorry to be a party pooper but if an actor going on 30 hasn't become a lead by now, he never will. You can only…
yes but PSJ got the leading role at 25 and KSH was in theater. Not the same as being in dramas and movies for over 20 years and still not coming even close to secondary lead let alone lead at the age close to 30. Point is, not everyone pans out. You have actors who rise to leading status within few years (Song Kang for example) and actors who spend decades without ever coming close (this guy). You do understand that the longer you are in the industry without moving up, the less likely they are going to move you up because it appears you lack something that a newcomer (relative to your experience) apparently has. I see nothing wrong with saying it out loud.

No cause it's sageuk and I hate sageuk. If he's talented as you say than it's even more of a head-scratcher that a reasonably good-looking talent under 30 hasn't graduated to a secondary lead but is still getting background roles. And yes, a small part can be juicy but this isn't (mild mannered scholar). Mind you, those parts don't pay well so 2 years break that isn't military or sick close relative is very weird. If this was Hollywood, I'd say rehab for sure.

plz give him a lead role i am begging u .. he deserves better :(
sorry to be a party pooper but if an actor going on 30 hasn't become a lead by now, he never will. You can only wonder what he did behind the scenes that made him unpopular with the industry (casting directors, directors, producers, actors, etc he worked with who don't call him back). From what I've seen, K drama actors who become ML do so in their early 20s. So if someone who is fairly good looking and has been in the industry for a long time cannot graduate to even secondary lead (more like secondary lead's BFF in this case lol) you bet there is a behind the scene problem.

Neither like nor dislike. I'm just stating the obvious. It's a thankless 8th banana role cause it's obvious from the description and the size of the cast that was cast before him. Major roles always get cast earlier. He has been stuck in such roles so this one won't move the needle. Two years hiatus is sus since it wasn't a military service. Tell me how is any of this a dislike?

I believe he is a very underrated actor. Glad to see him come back as a major player. Great cast. I think this…
lol he's not a major player. it's another 8th banana thankless role that this guy is "famous" for. Also lol at coming back [to another thankless role] after 2 years that weren't spent in the military [or this puff piece would say so]. I wonder what he did so that he had to lay low for so long.

For fantasy, that's pretty normal. For fantasy on a cable network, that's solid. Ratings are nuts anyway-that…
Good point about genre ratings. Sageuk consistently gets higher ratings - including fantasy sageuk - because Korea loves sageuk for whatever reason. Since Season 2 and 3 are sageuk, will be interesting to see if ratings go up.

Doubtful this is going in production without him (by far the biggest star and also an actual star) so he's in…
they are filming later this year and covid is now considered endemic rather than pandemic. I don't think they'll have to restrain locations. Plus, they did tons of matte anyway so cast deosn't have to travel, just stand in front of green screen.
