If someone has read the novel, can you explain why princess commands so much power in shadows and everyone is fearful of her? Usually in royal settings, only male heirs have some sort of power to become shadow rulers and princesses and concubines cannot affect the state affairs unless they are brilliant. The princess character is portrayed as narrow minded, sadist who tortures her subordinates and not an intelligent person. Idk why powerful ministers are following her lead, kneeling before her literally. Its not like she can become empress?
I like this drama but, its funny how in family struggle dramas, all women in the house know exactly what each other are scheming, behind each others backs. From female servants to ladies everyone know what is happening (cold war b/w Fl and step mother). But usually people in actual power like FL's father and grandmother are always in dark regarding their own house's circumstances. I believe FL's father and grandmother are some of the dumbest characters in this show. All that needless show of caring, but they cannot actually get how FL is being treated in the household. smh. And this is not only in this drama, but every other drama as well. Its very frustrating to watch a powerful politician like FL's father, getting so easily manipulated by stepmother.
I want to give this a try, by looking at high ratings. Is it good? Also, how is romance? Is this better than Blossoms in Adversity? Do leads have good chemistry?
I know this drama is pretty popular and by no means a bad drama, but it feels like... nothing happens. It wasnt…
I think, if they have made more episodes, this drama would have been much better. Usually I criticize dramas with high number of eps, as they drag out the story. But in this drama, I felt they should have made more eps. At least 25-30.
Did the male leads ex-girlfriend song yi cheat on him with her now husband?
I believe they conveyed in drama that ML also never actually loved his ex. His ex was actually the sister of his deceased friend. ML always felt guilt over his friend's death. That is why he started a relationship with her, to take care of her, like his responsibility. His true love was always FL, both during teenage time and current time.
That sister of his deserves to be thrashed, she is living in his house for a while now, why she did not tell him…
Tbh, he never gave her a chance to explain. In one scene, she was going to tell him, but he ignored her. But yes, she could have been more forceful or could have told FL about the truth. Yoon Bok would have listened to FL.
Not as bad as some people say, but not a masterpiece either. A fun little watch when you need a break from heavier…
Yes, as long as actors have great visuals, blind fans will rate it 10, messing up the actual rating. This drama will be rated below 8, if Song Kang and You Jung were not there and instead some less appealing actors were casted.
I am on ep 4 now and don't mind a spoiler. I maybe wrong, but I think that ML did not actually commit suicide, but was pushed by someone (maybe they accidentally pushed him) And the culprit is their group's manager. That actor usually plays negative roles in dramas, and his character looked like a sleazy manager. Plus, SML is also a police officer in present time, so maybe he will crack this case of alleged suicide? Because making Sml police officer will not drive the plot unless he is involved in some case. And this is not a crime drama, and only case here is ML's suicide. And if it is simple suicide, sml will not have much screen time. That is why I think, ML's suicide is shady asf.
Agree with you. For me, it has zero rewatch value, as compared to other Soo Hyun's drama. I have rewatched 'Its ok not to be ok' and 'My Love from the Star ' unhealthy number of times lol. But, I don't think I will ever rewatch this drama again. Unnecessary angst, cliches, and constant need to make viewers cry were some of the drawbacks of this drama. If you want to make viewers cry, write better story. I felt nothing during their emotional scenes, due to ridiculous plot. Even till the end, when they portrayed older ML going to heaven with FL, I rolled my eyes lol. WTH was that? so unnecessary. Like I said, they wanted to make viewers cry so hard, that it came off as cringe. And another bad thing is, this drama became super successful, breaking viewership records. So, network will not bother about any negative feedback towards this drama, because it does not matter now. The writer will get her bonus, even though she fumbled the plot badly towards the end.l, but no one will care as drama is successfull.
