I never understand too the need to do that distinction. For me, they are all works of fiction centered around same-sex relationships. Judging works and viewers by the fact they belong to a "genre" seems to me like a prejudiced and very opinionated view.

No you're not the only one. I wish they have done another way this scene too. But maybe there is a reason it was done ? I've read people saying maybe Black will "react" to the almost "choking" scene ? Maybe it will awaken him ? I don't think the director was ok with this scene too as she says this was stressing. Maybe she has no choice since it was an element of the plot in the novel ? Well, I don't know. Or maybe I'm trying to find "excuses" lol. But if it's for the plot, it's a poor plot device. They could have done that with one guard catching White and almost choking him in a fight and then White being saved etc. I guess we'll see in the next episode. I'll still watch this series as I really like the way it is directed, the acting, some very meaningful scenes, etc. But I'm a little disappointed. Or I'll erase this scene from my head and pretend it never happens.

I was not sure about the first 4 episodes but episodes 5 and 6 were really interesting ! I guess it is because it is most centered around the main characters now. The scenes were well-acted even if I think Ohm and Nanon still give more a chemistry of "friends fooling around and being curious" than "people falling in love with each other". But maybe it is intentional and that later the chemistry will be of a different kind. Crossing my fingers it will be that good until the end !
The MDL comment section is starting to look like a Kpop comment section....all the obsession about views, popularity, being the first, the best, seeing the actors as gods upon the earth (gods in acting, in chemistry, in everything, almost they just need to breathe and they breathe perfectly I assure you)...we only need now fanwars between fans of different series...This competitive (and toxic) mindset, the fanaticism this series provoke in some people, all of this makes me really uncomfortable...I'll stay away from all of this now. Sorry, series. maybe another time. maybe never.
about the plot I can say that you know to each their own but acting ? this is one of the best acting performance…
It is not bad acting to the point it is not watchable, for sure. But it is not extraordinary too. But I understand people liking this. It is like people appreciating blockbusters because they are entertaining. Except for me this BL blockbuster doesn't really entertain me lol
Unfortunately the plot of this series is not very surprising and feels a little too predictable. I also feel like there is something "off" with the acting sometimes : if feels "unnatural" or a little too staged/robotic perhaps ? I'm not sure I'll continue this.

Really don't take too seriously what people say here about other series since after all, it's all a matter of personal taste. I think Lovely writer was one of the best Bl series this year. If you can, I really recommend watching it. It has flaws for sure but the qualities of the show really stand out (cinematography, Gene's acting, beautiful and impactful scenes, great chemistry...). The sound effects were quite distracting at the beginning but after they use them a lot less, so it was really bearable for people annoyed by them. However, I didn't like that much the plot of the special episode (except the very beautiful ending scene with the main couple and the compelling acting). Except that special episode, the series was so impactful for me that I still cannot get into another Bl serie nowadays. It was THAT good. Well, I think so.
I'm not sure about this one. Episode 1 lacks something and the plot seems a little uninspired. But it seems entertaining, so I'll watch the next episode.
