I'm underwhelmed by this. Most of the actors lack charisma and come across like they are just there for the paycheck.…
Of course, the series has its flaws but I'm quite puzzled by some of the points you've made.
- Are people nowadays so desensitized towards serious themes (like drugs, prostitution, murder, sexual abuse, police corruption, etc. ) that they feel a series treating those themes is not enough "intense", "edgier", etc. ?
- Actors doing it for the paycheck ? Of course, as we all do when we work. We want to be paid and earn our life....
- The acting of MaxTul isn't that great ? Well, I wouldn't be so categorical, especially about Max. I find it quite "natural". However I agree that Max seems more at ease than Tul (who seems in some scenes awkward but still it's watchable). Concerning Max, I'm not sure you can analyse his character when he's switching between his bad/good side. He has a "grey" personality : there is not a switch but just another layer of his personality which is revealed with every new episode ?
To counter some comments below saying how this show is too slow, boring, etc., for me I appreciate the slowness…
Frankly speaking, I don't see it slow at all. I find it on the contrary quite quick (and maybe sometimes too quick) : quick on the romance, and a lot of stuff happening (succession of murders, drugs, police corruption, people disappearing....). If it goes quicker than this, we'll understand even less lol
I like the new episode. The series is still very interesting. The side characters are also really good and I think that's why the series is still engaging.
The suspense/investigation part is very good, but the romance isn't sitting well. It doesn't even make sense.…
It depends what is the purpose of the romance in the plot. Maybe Bun is using "romance and flirting" to get close to Bun and investigate him (after all, he says he's the most suspicious). I think it is more like a cat and mouse play (instead of romance). Both don't trust each other and are trying to guess what are the secrets/motives of the other while both being attracted to each other. If you have that point of view, the romance can make sense. However, it is just a supposition.
There are a lot of tragic bl dramams, you can say they are 90% more than optimistic ones, here is a list: https://kisskh.at/list/e10aXn7L
Well, thank you anyways :) But I don't understand what you are really looking for with this comment ? I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to.
Can I know what things made you loss your appeal from the series( i am asking genuinely my intend is not to start…
Thank you for your nice reply ! Well, I'm sad too because I quite like it before :( What you say for the second point happens also to me regularly with a lot of romance (k)drama.
Well, not everyone loves the same thing. I've warned before that certain types of BL fans would be less likely…
I give my reasons above (I think those are my reasons even if it's still a little unclear too). However, can you develop what you mean by "certain types of BL fans" ? I hope you don't include me in a "type", since as a human being, I can't be classified. As for dropping a series toward the end, yes, I've already done that. I don't like to force myself to like something I'm most likely not interested in anymore.

It's complicated but : - They have very "optimistic" almost naive views on problems but I'm quite a pessimistic person. So I don't believe in it. This "optimistic" view was also there at the beginning too but I find it more and more unbelievable towards the end of the series. - I was more interested when Adachi and Kurosawa were not a couple. You have some kind of "conflict" or suspense in the plot at that time. i think that since they got together, the series lost some kind of purpose. They are cute but what next ? if you know what I mean. Of course, they'll introduce some kind of suspense with the mind reading thing, but I think it isn't enough to extend the plot. I think those are the main concerns I have for this series. However, I'm not saying the series is bad or anything, but just it is not to my taste anymore.
Unfortunately, the series has lost its appeal for me :( I guess it's not for me anymore. A pity because I really like it at the beginning. I'm going to wait one more episode to see if my feelings change, otherwise, I'll drop it.
Seems to me that in BL series all sorts of people can do all sorts of things that are criminal, immoral, unethical,…
It's not specific to "BL" though (even if I don't understand what people really "mean" by "BL", since originally it only means "boy love" ?). I say this in the case you want to define "BL" by those problematic tropes. But those tropes are more or less everywhere ?
Slap-and-kiss lakorns are not "BL" but you have very problematic tropes in those ones too (rape, abuse, violence against women...). You have the problematic "kabedon", the forced kisses, the forceful male lead in the usual romantic drama, "BL" or not (like Hana Yori Dango), etc.
And the fact that some immoral and bad people don't get punished in some "BL" happens in reality too. I don't think it is only a question of plot or not.
In fact, it's a general (and cultural) problem reflected in most work of fiction, because they belong to a society which has those beliefs and prejudices. Some works are more aware of it than others though.
Stop saying that this isn't a BL cause it has a proper plot besides romance! It's a BL novel, from a BL market,…
It's so confusing what is really BL so I made now no difference between BL and other works anyways. I don't see the point. The only useful differences for me are : - if it's a good, interesting work or not, - if it's as you say thriller, comedy, horror, etc. - and if the relationships are same-sex oriented (for the main characters) or not. I think people are losing too much time with this distinction. They tend to think BL = bad and LGBT = good. But BL only mean originally boy love (but it is used now more generally apparently)....it is not an indication of the quality of the work. So it makes no sense.
I love this show, honestly do but how come this has higher rating than ITSAY?
I find this one more interesting (because of the plot) than ITSAY that I drop after three episodes...lol Everyone has different taste. However, people should stop with the cult around ITSAY, the obsession over rating, the competitiveness. It's getting very disturbing.
This series and lovely writer will be my most anticipated series for 2021. Both are very good actors and the hate to love relationship is one my favorite cliche in BL so (though I'm a little tired of the student or school environment in BL -again-)....
