ZXW and HYZ storyline is too depressing. ZXW is actually training HYZ to be a skilled fighter so that he could better protect HQ. ZXW knows HQ’s death is fake but plays along with it to avoid bringing further harm to her.

ZXW love for HQ is now unconditional and only want what makes her happy - freedom and to live a life of leisure.

I sure hope the ending is satisfying or it’s too much angst watching this drama only to end up being disappointed/angry. 😄

On a side note, WSM is actually pretty funny…all the people in Huang Cheng is crazy…stay away.

HRZ is devoted and puts HQ above everything else, even his own life. In the novel, due to circumstances, HQ didn’t really have a choice to pick, but more of what she end up with given her situation. She loves ZXW. She is grateful for HRZ. HRZ do not ask for much but just to be by her side. HQ and HRZ relationship is more of companionship. ZXW learn that loving her is letting her go as well. ZXW’s status in the novel is too complicating for love.

ZXW is like perfect bachelor of the time…lol. But yes good looks makes everything bad appealing lol

The guard can’t be lump to meet her with her brother and father. HRZ didn’t kill with the intention to harm, more like to survive. Her family is the criminals.

Watch First Love. He gets the girl in that drama lol

It’s ZXW…but whether or not they could be together is another dilemma.

ZXW is not married. The ladies at the manor are guests…and hopes of marrying into the family and becoming the lady of the manor. Well, at least in the drama version. In a perfect story, HQ will be selfless…she is walking on ice just trying to stay alive…not trying to win any man’s attention. She is still hopeful that things could be for the better and for that reason, she’s centered on that. ZXW cannot prioritize HQ on a lot of things…which is why there is no perfect situation or solution to the both of them. HQ knows that and why there is angst on her part. ….and why this drama pulls at the heart strings!!!

HQ life is pretty sad either way. First life - whole family dead with no one close to her alive. Second life - living on the edge and not being able to change or get what she want despite trying so hard.

If she is indeed in a coma and this is her own manifestation of her redemption, it’s too cruel to wake up to reality:
1. Family all dead
2. Quan Zhi dead
3. HRZ do not exist
4. She is still a recorded slave servant due to the dad’s crimes/family fall from grace

How is this going to be a good ending? Is ZXW’s love and devotion enough to fill all the voids in her reality?

There’s a subtle clue that HC is in a coma from the beginning (after the guard kicked her and ZWX rescued her). The incense/scent is what ZWX is burning to keep her alive and that HC is actually in a dream. HC is the only one that smell aroma all this time and don’t know where it’s coming from. Just my theory ….

This is one drama where I hope they don’t follow the ending to the novel. ZXW and HC both love each other dearly but due to ZXW Family background and the previous marriage with his disciple brother, they can’t be together, not even if she is his concubine. He lives a life with a reminder/regret that he will never be with the love of his life due to his society status. She will have the companionship of her bodyguard. She is grateful towards him but is not in love with him. It sucks to be the Lord.

If it involves a king, you know these characters will not get a happy ending. The saying goes: the life of a king is very lonely.

Yes suuuuuper cheesy! It seem like these are popular concepts in novels…modern girl reliving life in the ancient dynasty era. Applying modern sass to traditional conservatism society.

That is if you believe in karma this way. It seems like people view karma being carried out in the same lifetime.

I totally agree with you! Rapist, murderer etc don’t get a pass. People who kill without remorse don’t get a pass. Jail is too good for them to live out their lives only to die of natural causes.

Karma is paid in the next life, not the same lifetime. So what you do in this life, karma will be in the next life. So if you are a horrendous butcher in this life, you will be reincarnated as a pig the next.

To be correct, FL got sucked into the novel she was reading and became an unfavorable character. That’s the novel story arc but it seem like the drama dropped/excluded that part. It’s like Love Like the Galaxy where the FL also came from modern time and got stuck in the body of cheng Xiao Xiang in the novel but that part was also dropped/excluded from the drama.

I thought it was one of those cliche story line about being sucked into a book blagh blagh..but the drama dropped that part (modern girl got stuck in a novel but only to find that she is a villainess trying to survive). Storyline is similar to Lost Track of Time with Xing Fei: second chance trying to right the wrong. Overall, this drama is pretty good so far. Just hope the ending is satisfying to dedicate 30 episodes to it.

In the drama, ZYL is a disciple (only) of ZXW’s dad. ZXW refers to him as older disciple brother (師兄）and call the mother mentor/mother. It is common for disciples to take the mentor’s last name as well. They are not adopted brothers but are super closed bc they grew up together.
