I don't see the appeal/value of any cent award shows. They don't give awards to really deserving ones but instead…
i honestly have the same sentiment ☹️ weibo award feels more like a popularity or appreciation award. i guess everyone will get an award as long as their drama/character was a success, no matter how they acted. it's most likely to prevent fanwars, hate, and repeated wins but still... how can an actor/actress who still needs improvement be given the same or similar award as an actor/actress who embodied their characters and showed a wide range of emotions?
i'm just happy for tan jianci because, if we ignore the fact that basically everyone else got one too lol, he truly deserves all the awards (trying to not sound biased but it's not my fault that my favorite actor just excels at his craft ;)
The news reporter Na Yuri said, “The ongoing Paltima airstrikes are taking place in Izamel where Korean nationals have been kidnapped by armed militants.” Notice how the names Paltima and Izmel sound suspiciously similar to Palestine and Israel.
Basically, the drama painted Paltima in a bad light by saying that they're doing airstrikes and kidnapping Koreans in Izamel. In reality, it's Palestine being bombed and airstriked by Israel. It's disrespectful and hurtful to the Palestinians who are the victims.
💀 god forbid someone has an opinion. i tried and it just wasn't my cup of tea, as much as i love yang zi, but i still wish for her and this drama's success.
tldr; basically a rant about how annoying it is that this drama can’t decide if it wants to be a romance or a thriller.
watched this in the summer of 2019, of course for my boy jinyoung. to my disappointment, the ahn/jaein romance was very boring and i couldn’t feel any chemistry. it wasn’t until the second half when we were introduced to the thriller side of this drama that it started getting interesting. at that point, i only cared for ahn, sungmo, and jisoo. i truly believe they should’ve centered this drama around those three and completely ditch jaein and/or the romance between ahn and jaein because she was practically nothing but a love interest for the entirety of the drama, or they should get rid of the entire thriller plot and only focus on the romance, or they can keep both but at least execute/tie those two aspects together better and seamlessly.
the ost is another proof of this drama's polarization. we got some lighthearted songs like "take" by jus2 and "sunny day" by seunghee as well as some darker songs like "shadows on the wall" by janett suh. now, i like got7 and oh my girl but did we really need those type of songs? maybe for the first half but definitely not the second... it highkey pmo when a cute ahn/jaein scene with seunghee's song in the bg popped up right after his hyung sung mo was sentenced to prison. 💀
it's like the screenwriters either originally wanted this to be a two-hurt-people-who-found-comfort-in-eachother romance but decided it'd be super cool to add some thriller in it too, or they originally wanted it to be a thriller but decided to add romance to entice fans (cuz drama fans love romance). sorry it just annoys me like UGH please pick one and stick with it or do a better job at interwining them. rant over lol
i had a feeling this drama wouldn't be up my alley but still decided to give it a try because yang zi! after watching one and a half eps, it really isn't for me (sorry yang zi 😭) it's not necessarily boring; it just doesn't have that oomph or wow factor to keep me hooked and looking forward to the next eps. and it doesn't help that all the warm colors and soft music make me sleepy... i'll still be rummaging through episodes for any interesting or must-watch parts, just not watching fully. nonetheless, i hope this drama does well!
09: school attacks, misplaced focus / when society turns against each other instead of cooperating to solve bigger problems (i ffw through this ep so might be inaccurate)
Pretty sure Filter will drop in the first quarter.
😭 i wish it'd be love has fireworks. filter for the spring and love has fireworks for the summer would be a good combo. a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶w̶i̶n̶n̶e̶r̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶a̶l̶l̶-̶
maybe it's cuz of the intro, but this drama feels like a chinese painting or shadow puppetry brought to life. everything is so pretty and feels so dreamy.

one of WeTV's recent social media post said "which drama are you most excited for in 2025?" and this drama was listed as one of the options
he deserves all the awards imo hahaha
