does anyone know what itβs the honey trilogy? Are all of these dramas by one writer?
copy pasting my comment:
Honey Trilogy consists of - Ashes of Love (2018) - Skate Into Love (2020) - The Starry Love (2023)
They're not supposed to be connected in terms of storyline or genre. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way they're connected is by their producer Liu Ning and their similar production teams (ex: screenwriters, directors, and OST singers like Sa Dingding, Mao Buyi, and Liu Yuning). Basically, they saw how successful Ashes of Love got and decided to make more dramas together, calling them the Honey Trilogy.
I heard rumors that the team originally wanted Starry Love's leads to be the leads from both Skate into Love (Janice Wu and Steven Zhang) and Ashes of Love (Yang Zi and Deng Lun). But due to scheduling conflicts and later Deng Lun's tax evasion controversy, they ended up casting other people (Landy Li, Chen Xingxu, He Xuanlin, and Chen Muchi).
Saw this melon by many pages on X today. I was happy at first to see thisπ that atleast there is some melon…
omg this is the pairing i was wishing for a while back (since i loved JCT's xiang liu and LYX's shangguan qian). and jianci is just too good at portraying angst and heartbreak that i wouldn't mind him starring in another BE drama β though i will definitely be sad for his character again haha
like most melons, this is highly unlikely to happen though
it was just a rumor around 2019/2020 spread by some weibo accounts later copy pasted by some YouTube channels…
yes, should take melons with a grain of salt. if it was true though, i'm glad it didn't come into fruition because ZS's controversy might've shelved the drama forever. and ZLH and XRH have better chemistry than YY and ZS, imo
Iβve seen a lot of people criticising Ai Miβs drama with Hou Minghao and Ao Ruipeng on Twitter, saying they…
"didn't we watch it" girl who's we π and what's with all the whataboutism? it doesn't matter if XYZ did something similar in the past; that doesn't mean it's okay to keep doing it!
"if you don't like it then just don't watch it" this mindset is literally the reason why situations like this keep happening. they know that fans like you will eat it up anyway.
i agree fans shouldn't be attacking her, but majority of what i've seen are fans directing the criticism to the production staff and her agency β rightfully so. like this is literally a MINOR paired with an ADULT. is that not concerning at all to you? kiss or no kiss, it's still portrayed as a romantic relationship.
i enjoyed the beginning, thought the mid was mid (except for a few parts), but the ending eps were good enough to leave me feeling satisfied.
my biggest complaint is with FL. i wish they wrote her character better and delved deeper into her backstory so that we could relate to and understand her β cuz ngl them barely showing us her past made me feel like it wasn't that serious lol. but it's a romance drama so of course they won't focus on those stuff. same thing happened with LOTFG. and i didn't feel she truly loved him until the last ten or so episodes.
btw i'm still confused, why was ming yi so unwilling to tell ji bozai her true identity? because the world still kept spinning after he found out (on his own). she could tell her best friend but not bozai, after all they've been through.....
realistic rating 8/10 but i like it overall to give it an 8.5. major props to both hou minghao and lu yuxiao. their chemistry carried this drama and was the reason why i enjoyed watching <3
I just finished this and will say I mostly liked it - but there wee some huge flawsLets start with with I liked:Hou…
no fr like who thought it'd be a great idea to have her go for the golden millet dream IMMEDIATELY after they slept together?? "at this moment, i'm sincere" β betrays him next scene π i'm never forgiving the script writers for that.
I read somewhere that the ml pretends to get drunk and forces himself on the fl, is that true?
there's two scenes that person could've been referring to.
(1) somewhere in the first ten or twelve episodes, drunk ML almost kisses FL. he regains consciousness and stops himself before their lips touch.
(2) in the last third of the drama, "drunk" ML surprise kisses her. he's not actually drunk, just pretended to be. FL is shocked by the kiss and tries to push him off, not necessarily because she didn't like it (in case you thought it's SA) but because he's not supposed to know she's there β at least that's how i interpreted it.
if you want more context or a link to either scene, i can provide it if possible. out of context, it sounds like a SA scene which it's not O_O
"JC is quite attractive to over 15 million women." Tell me more, I could be his granny, I have different…
xiang liu is a wonderful character who's impossible to replace and impossible to forget. trust me, i know. but you shouldn't let that deter you from enjoying other dramas, characters, and even actors and actresses.
the good thing about dramas is that there's one for everyone. "filter" likely just wasn't that type of story for you, and that's okay. maybe you should stick with costume dramas. hopefully one day, you'll find one that resonates with you as close as lost you forever or xiang liu did ^^;

a lot of the actors were HORRIBLE at portraying fear through their facial expressions, instead relying on heavy breathing and agape mouths. yawnnn
ep 5 "red shoes" was really the only memorable out of all. that final scene whewww!
