IMO Yes.. Su Tangli suffered, so did Liu Yuan Ying, maybe more... but she came out of it by being open and taking help. Where as Su Tangli doesnt listen to anyone, Lu Chang went out of his way to help out... but she didnt feel bad about getting attached to Xie Xi, knowing the guy is engaged to WenAn, She was just using him bcoz she dropped him without a pang...when she realised he also used her. Same way, Lu Chang explained to her clearly not to tell Mingshu about her family since the shock can harm her... but she tried before also... but Lu Chang intervened... Now this time mercilessly she forced her to undergo some kind of Hypnotism... to revive her memory with no thought to the consequences of that on Mingshu.
I hope she is acting and eventually will kill the mad guy... instead of getting killed..!! Sad thing is her character in Princess Royal was soo good, its terrible here..!! Good actress...!!
Did you see the latest episode? Her character judgement is soo poor, That psycho did a senti number on her.. and she threw the knife. I was like Go for it girl...!! Ha!!! spoiled. For a person who thinks she is doing big thing for her father... she totally ruined his reputation.. by her actions..!
Lu Chang's mentor Su ChangHua is honorable and respected by all While the daughter Su Tangli is an abomination. You cannot stoop to that level with the excuse of revenge....! She didnt care a damn about the old maid or Mingshu... I think she is a bit jealous of Mingshu.... The minute she appears of the screen... feel so annoyed...!
I think the story complicated us so much, we all forgot ep 1. If you rewatch while waiting for the next episodes.. you will get a clearer picture... (or but ep 1 itself is crazy )
Lu Chang and Jian Mingshu were childhood friends.. and the Bamboo fascination is His master told him to be like bamboo unafraid of wind and rain... and she promised she will embroider bamboo on all his clothes. As he grew up he was more scholarly and she is among the wealthiest and owns a Gold shop.. His master was wrongfully accused and imprisoned and he committed suicide.. and Lu Change came to know the night before the suicide, Mingshu's father visited him and insulted him... Then Her father wanted him as a son in law to raise his social standing...! so he send his men to groom grab LuChang and bring him over... he knows Mingshu always loved him. LuChang refused so father drugged him and send Mingshu to wedding night chamber But he managed to come out.. and said.. he cannot believe how scheming they all are.. Her father had helped him and his mother during the flood... he is grateful.. but he is not worthy of Mingshu they are very rich where as He is just a poor scholar waiting to sit for the exam. He rejected the marriage... He never once said he doesn't love her even when she asked that question. Actually too many things for him to take... in a day, esp when he heard her father must be the reason his master committed suicide... So its not that he never loved her... !!

btw... ZLH's "Flourish in Time" is a 2021 drama.. Eventhough I have seen him in Maiden Holmes and he won an award, I think "Flourish in Time" was much better... Have you seen?

The hate thrown at the drama is mainly for the SML, he had so much screen time.. maybe more than the ML... so all were getting so upset.. esp the last episode.. if you check.. 3/4th of screen time is for him.... so naturally people were upset.
At the same time... there were comments of LiRong too.. thats bcoz all were not understanding the way she is brought up not showing any weakness... I feel she was brilliant...!

Now that I am almost finishing ep 20, IMO I feel she did it alright... eng translation may not be accurate.. but she have said this before ..when the SML took her bamboo design and embroidered his clothes... she thought for a moment.. is he the guy in my dream... but he is not raising my heartbeat...!! thats what she said early on. She was always a free spirit and free with him, she considered him her best friend... its only us viewers who feels so bad.... Now that she told him.. he might be alright....! he is a nice guy..
