Bcuz Qingmu left so abruptly there was no way he knew he was gonna die at that specific moment...even when he knew eventually he would be gone but not this soon. So it does fit with your explanation and since Bai Jue could easily detached Qingmu from himself during the last battle scene I'm not surprised that he could've also done the fireflies msg as Qingmu as well. Yes omg the feels when you described those scenes 😂😂 I loved watching them cuz that was soo adorable, cute and funny LOL Indeed Bai Jue had it in him all along and that's why we got our cute Qingmu which was an extension of him. So he felt more free to be able to express and do things as he wants towards Houchi. To me it just feels like after they fused together Bai Jue became more soft and less of an ice cube compared to when he was in God Realm and that's bcuz he now obtained the memories of Qingmu imo haha In the end I love both characters but would always have a softer spot for Bai Jue since he is the complete version hehe
